Taesin Girau

Taesin Girau is an El – Aurian and serves as Commanding Officer of the USS Atalanta.

Considered to be comparatively – young in the estimation of her own people, Taesin was born in the early 23rd Century and was a refugee that survived the destruction of her Homeworld by the Borg.

The child of Listeners, Taesin held a contrary worldview from her parents and believed that sometimes intervention is required to enable equilibrium to galactic events, thus she joined Starfleet in 2384 AD, opting not to join her parents when they returned to the Delta Quadrant to assist in the undertaking of rebuilding El – Auria.

Prior to her joining Starfleet, Taesin had a tenured professorship as a research – fellow at the prestigious Daystrom Institute, where she was regarded as an authority on Spatial – sciences and published several well – received academic papers on the subjects of Subspace Geometry and Astrophysical Cosmology.

Watchful, mercurial and reasoned, Tasein Girau enjoys a privileged perspective on the evolution of the United Federation of Planets and its neighbours.

Her dichotomous appearance belies a mind of great experience, yet Taesin Girau tends not to be judgemental or to pre-dispose most encounters or motivations. A distinctly El – Aurian trait, she tends to listen carefully and observe body language and paralinguistics. The effect can occasionally be perturbing.

Like most El – Aurian’s, Taesin has some Empathic psionic ability, which sometimes proves an advantage when she is engaging in negotiations. She also is extraordinarily sensitive to fluctuations in the space/time continuum itself.

Taesin has a truly wide and eclectic range of interests, honed over many years and particularly enjoys the company & perspective of other long – lived races such as Trill Symbionts &  Lanthanites, as subjective ‘immortality’ can be a lonely place and quickly lead to boredom.

She often seems distracted, but when you have her attention, it is complete and wholly undivided.
