Full Name

Parker Darok Hart

Kovar

Parker Darok Hart is a Starfleet cadet currently assigned to the training unit aboard the USS Astraeus, following his reassignment from the USS Pythagoras. He is a Human-Klingon hybrid, the son of a Human Starfleet officer and a Klingon Defence Force officer. Quiet and reserved, Parker tends to keep to himself.

Parker’s Klingon heritage is clearly written into his features, most visibly in the ridged brow he inherited from his mother, though his fair complexion and otherwise soft, youthful face give him a more understated presence than many hybrids of his kind. His dark, curly hair falls loosely across his forehead, and his pale, blue-grey eyes stand out all the more for the contrast. There’s a quiet, unassuming quality to his overall appearance; nothing about him demands attention, which suits someone who has never much wanted it.

He dresses simply and without much fuss, both on and off duty, more concerned with comfort and practicality than making any particular impression.

  • Height: 5′ 10″ (1.78 m)
  • Weight: 155 lbs
  • Hair: Dark Brown
  • Eyes: Blue-Grey

Parker is quiet by nature, more comfortable observing than participating, and it takes a great deal to draw him out of his shell. Where his Klingon heritage might suggest boldness or assertiveness, Parker’s temperament leans almost entirely the other way: reserved, careful, and instinctively private about most things. He rarely volunteers information about himself unprompted, and tends to answer questions with the minimum necessary rather than elaborating further.

Much of that reserve traces back to his own sense of falling short of his mother’s world. Parker grew up with every expectation that he might one day serve in the Klingon Defence Force as she had, but never quite had the physical strength or aptitude for it, a quiet disappointment he has carried with him and rarely discusses, even as he found his own, different path into Starfleet instead.

He isn’t unfriendly, simply guarded, and those who take the time to get past his initial reticence tend to find someone thoughtful and genuinely decent underneath, though very few people have made that effort so far, largely because Parker himself does very little to invite it. Beneath the quiet exterior, he’s a genuinely gifted mathematician, the kind of ability he treats as entirely unremarkable despite it setting him apart from most of his peers, and he has a real love of music, playing guitar in whatever spare time he can find. He’s also more physically active than his reserved manner might suggest, an enthusiastic amateur ice hockey player and a keen hand at water polo, two of the few settings where his guarded nature tends to fall away entirely.

His transfer to the USS Astra came in the wake of the squadron-wide crisis in the Tenarus Cluster, after the USS Pythagoras, his previous posting, was folded into the Odyssey Squadron. Still finding his footing among a new crew, Parker has kept mostly to himself so far, though in time he would go on to form a genuine, easy friendship with Alfie and, eventually, something more with Scott Florrick.

Biography

Early Life

Corwin Hart and B’Renna married in a traditional Klingon ceremony some years before Parker was born, a match rooted in Corwin’s own long-standing fascination with Klingon culture, dating back to his years as a security officer, and in B’Renna’s respect for a Human who had bothered to actually understand her people rather than merely tolerate them. Their relationship, from the beginning, was shaped around two demanding careers pulling in different directions, and their first child, Ka’Rina, was raised largely on a Klingon colony near the Federation border, attending a traditional Klingon boarding school that steeped her fully in the culture and values her mother lived by.

Parker’s birth, over a decade later, came as a genuine surprise to both parents, arriving just as B’Renna assumed command of the IKS Kortan and Corwin settled into his own command of Starbase 219. Unlike his sister, Parker grew up almost entirely on the starbase itself, raised primarily, and often only nominally, by his father, whose duties commanding the station left him with little time or attention to spare. Parker spent much of his childhood largely to his own devices, and it was the parents of his small circle of friends aboard the starbase who did much of the actual raising, feeding him, checking on him, and including him in their own family lives when his father could not.

Growing up surrounded by Starfleet personnel and their families rather than Klingon society, Parker never developed any real connection to his mother’s culture, something that set him apart from Ka’Rina from an early age. He found comfort instead in quieter pursuits, mathematics, reading, and long nights spent stargazing, a habit he shared for years with his first real boyfriend, Caspar, before Caspar left with his family to Kovar Prime. As a teenager, Parker had a handful of romantic entanglements, with boys more often than girls, though he was something of a hopeless romantic at heart, and most of these relationships fizzled out quickly; Parker rarely felt confident enough in them to let them go anywhere. Caspar was the one clear exception.

Throughout his childhood and teenage years, Parker threw himself into quieter pursuits far removed from anything expected of a Klingon warrior. He worked hard at his studies, read constantly, and developed a genuine, private love of music, teaching himself to sing largely in secret, most often late at night in the privacy of the sonic shower, where he was certain no one else could hear him. Very few people beyond his small circle of friends aboard the starbase ever learned he could sing at all, let alone how well, and Parker preferred it that way.

When the time came for Parker to undergo the rite of passage expected of a Klingon coming of age, he failed it outright, lacking the physical strength and aptitude his sister had in abundance. Rather than attempt it again, as tradition might have expected, Parker rejected Klingon culture entirely, a decision that opened a rift between him and the rest of his family that has never fully healed. He joined Starfleet not long after, largely to please his father, though even that decision came with its own quiet compromise: rather than pursue command the way both his parents had, Parker set his sights on becoming a scientist first, a choice that suited him far better than anyone in his family seemed to fully understand.

Starfleet Career

Starfleet Academy, Mellstoxx Campus

Parker began his Starfleet Academy training in 2401 at the Mellstoxx Campus, spending his first two years there excelling across nearly every subject he took. Away from the weight of expectation that had followed him for most of his life, Parker began, slowly, to come out of his shell, growing noticeably more confident even as he remained fundamentally reserved and quiet by nature. He took to his studies in astrophysics with real enthusiasm, and it was clear early on to those who taught him that he had genuine talent, whatever doubts his own family may have harboured about the path he’d chosen.

Midway through his third year, Parker caught the attention of Captain Zobrella during a visit to the campus, after she observed him deliver a diplomatic speech in one of his classes and came away deeply impressed by both his grasp of the subject and the thoughtfulness of his remarks. A review of his academic record only reinforced the impression, and recognising that he needed field experience to match his classroom aptitude, Zobrella requested that he join her aboard the USS Pythagoras partway through his third year. What she never told him outright was that she had known both his parents for years, and knowing how disappointed they’d been in him, had gone looking specifically to see whether the raw potential she suspected was actually there. It was, and it didn’t take her long to be certain of it.

USS Pythagoras

Not long after Parker joined the Pythagoras, he worked up the courage he needed and finally asked Captain Zobrella directly why she had wanted him aboard her vessel in the first place. She told him the truth: that she had known both his parents for years, and had gone looking for him specifically because their disappointment in him hadn’t matched what she’d seen in his record. She was blunt about it too, telling him plainly that she didn’t agree with them, and that if he were her son, she would already be proud of the man he was becoming.

The Pythagoras was soon dispatched to the Delta Quadrant to rendezvous with the Odyssey Squadron, as part of a formal review Zobrella had been tasked with conducting into the squadron’s leadership and its ongoing efforts in the quadrant. For Parker, the assignment felt like an unexpected gift. Being so far from home, and further still from his parents and everything he’d left unresolved with them, suited him more than he expected it to. He threw himself into learning everything he could about the region, reading obsessively about Voyager’s long journey home decades earlier and combing through whatever mission reports from the Odyssey he could get his hands on, determined to make the most of a deep space posting he had never imagined for himself.

In early 2403, Parker’s deep space assignment took an unexpected and deeply unsettling turn. With no real warning, he was pulled from the Pythagoras and beamed directly aboard the Odyssey on Captain Zobrella’s orders, told only that his presence there was somehow critical, without any further explanation offered. Nothing in his training had prepared him for a moment like it. The Odyssey alone left him stunned, vast in a way the Pythagoras simply wasn’t, and he barely had time to compose himself before he was introduced to two of the ship’s senior officers and swept off toward a meeting he had no context for whatsoever.

In early 2403, Parker’s deep space assignment took an unexpected and deeply unsettling turn. With no real warning, he was pulled from the Pythagoras and beamed directly aboard the Odyssey on Captain Zobrella’s orders, told only that his presence there was somehow critical to the mission, without any further explanation offered. Materialising on the Odyssey’s transporter pad, Parker was immediately struck by the sheer scale of the ship compared to the Pythagoras, and did his best to compose himself as he was met by Commander Craig Flemen, the ship’s second officer, and Lieutenant Commander Benris, the chief counselling officer, both of whom did their best to put him at ease despite offering little in the way of actual answers. Nervous and completely out of his depth, Parker was escorted to his temporary quarters before being brought to meet Commodore McCallister and Captain Reyas themselves.

What followed was a briefing convened specifically to explain what the squadron had so far pieced together. A young man had been recovered, badly injured, from a badly damaged shuttle exhibiting anomalous chroniton levels and a quantum signature that didn’t match their own universe at all. Genetic analysis had confirmed he was related to Commodore McCallister and Captain Reyas, not as a son, as first assumed, but as a grandson, with one half of his genetic profile belonging squarely to Cadet Alfie McCallister-Reyas. The young man, Preston, was from an entirely different future reality, and further testing quickly ruled out Jordan Duncan-Court as his other parent. That parent, impossibly, was Parker.

Parker sat through the explanation in stunned silence, watching a room full of strangers, Alfie, Jordan, William Duncan-Court, and Athena Westerham-Banfield among them, absorb the news that he was, in some other version of events, the father of the young man now seated a few chairs away. Alfie’s reaction was harder to read than anyone else’s, guarded and unreadable in a way that left Parker even more unmoored, and Preston’s gaze, when it finally settled on him, carried a kind of aching recognition Parker had never had directed at him by a stranger before. He left that first encounter with far more questions than answers, and an awkward, lingering self-consciousness around both Alfie and Jordan that took him a good while to shake off.

As the crisis deepened, it became clear that Preston’s arrival was tied to something far graver still: an older, war-hardened version of Alfie, commanding a parallel USS Odyssey, was threatening the entire prime-reality, driven by grief after losing his own Parker years earlier and determined to prevent that Borg from decimating this reality from ever happening, whatever the cost, including turning weapons on Federation vessels. When neither Alfie’s words nor Preston’s own pleading fully reached him, it was Parker who finally stepped forward and addressed the man on the viewscreen directly. He admitted plainly that he didn’t know him, not really, and had no idea how to be the person that man had lost, but that Preston had told him enough about who that Parker had been- someone who chose kindness even when the universe gave him every reason not to- to know the man standing before them now would never have wanted this. It was Preston, in the end, who broke through where words alone could not, confronting his father outright and refusing to let him hide behind grief any longer. Together, their words were enough. The alternate Alfie stood down, and his ship was escorted safely back to its own reality.

Watching a devastated older man mourn a version of himself he had never met, hearing him addressed by his own name, in his own voice, left Parker profoundly shaken in a way he struggled to put into words afterwards.

Throughout the ordeal, Parker couldn’t help noticing that Alfie was, by any reasonable measure, an attractive and genuinely kind person, an observation he kept firmly to himself. It wasn’t in his nature to act on something like that, and he was well aware Alfie was engaged to Jordan besides. If anything, it left him a little wistful about the shape of the life he’d briefly glimpsed, one that had never been his to have.

USS Astra

In the aftermath of the crisis, the Pythagoras was formally assigned to the Odyssey Squadron as part of its ongoing expansion, and Parker himself was reassigned to the training unit aboard the USS Astra, finally putting him in the same daily orbit as the cadets he’d met so briefly, and so awkwardly, during the crisis.

He didn’t have long to settle in before being thrown straight into another emergency. When a Kazon sub-sect’s failed attempt to open an underspace aperture flooded the Tenarus Cluster with dangerously high levels of tetryon radiation, Parker took part in the Astra’s rescue efforts alongside his new unit, helping recover stranded small craft and shuttles caught in the fallout.

Following the extensive damage sustained by the squadron, the fleet returned to the Alpha Quadrant for repairs at the Avalon Fleet Yards, and Parker joined his fellow cadets for shore leave at the Halcyon Bay resort on Colludia II.

It was there, away from the weight of everything that had happened in the Tenarus Cluster, that Parker and Scott Florrick first properly got to know one another, and what began as an easy, unhurried friendship during that stretch of shore leave slowly grew into something more.
