Rio Rydar

Born on the Boslic homeworld, Cort, she looked to the stars like many before her and joined starfleet. Specifically the command division. She hopes one day for a command of her own but for now she’s happy to pilot others.

Rio Rydar presents herself as calm, deliberate and quietly self-assured. Her confidence is hard earned rather than innate, shaped by years of pushing against the expectations on her homeworld and carving out a place for herself within Starfleet.

She approached her work with precision and discipline, particularly at the helm, where her focus become almost meditative. In high pressure situations she is steady and unflinching, relying on instinct as much as training.

Rio is driven by a deeply ingrained ambition. Unlike some who chase rank for prestige, her desire for command is routed in a need for purpose and belonging. She wants to prove, to herself more than anyone, that she earned her place among the stars, that she is more than the limitations of Cort. This ambition is quietly intense, manifesting in her constant self improvement and habit of studying command even when off duty.

Rio’s greatest strength is her adaptability. Already early in her career, during the displacement crisis in 2403, she demonstrated an ability of rapidly adjust to unfamiliar and unstable environments, keeping focussed when reality seemed uncertain. However, this is a double edged sword. She is so good at fitting the moment she sometimes neglects her own emotional grounding. She carries stress silently, internalising doubt instead of confronting it.

To those she serves alongside, Rio is often describes as dependable, thoughtful and ambitious. Senior officers see in her the potential for command, even if she does not yet fully see it in herself. She is someone who will always show up when it matters most, even if she keeps part of herself hidden.

Hobbies and Interests

Off duty, Rio gravitates toward activities that allow her to explore the galaxy in a more personal and reflective way. She has a particular fondness for stellar cartography. She spends alot of time in the holodeck running piloting simulations, especially of vessels from other species and sometimes historical.

Outside her professional interest, she has a habit of observing ship operations from a distance. Learning the functions of departments not her own.  While not overly social, she finds comfort in small, familiar routines, occasionally sharing quiet moments with trusted crewmates.
