Standing six feet tall with an athletic build, Alvarez carries himself with casual confidence. His dark brown hair is perpetually tousled with faint stubble lining his jaw. His hazel-green eyes flash with humor and curiosity, often betraying his next bold idea before he voices it.

History
Born in Tycho City on Luna in 2365, Benicio Alvarez grew up among engineers and explorers. He attended the Daystrom Annex for Biological Studies before entering Starfleet Academy in 2387, majoring in Exobiology and Stellar Cartography. After early assignments aboard the USS Venture and USS Nova Scotia, Alvarez became known for his practical, boots-in-the-dust approach to science.
He was decorated for his decisive role during the Luria Prime Crisis in 2397, when his rapid genomic countermeasure contained a planetary contagion that threatened millions. Following service in the Deneb Sector aboard the Nova Scotia, Alvarez transferred to the newly-refitted USS Valor in October 2402.
