Summary
Commander Lane Hanley is the Commanding Officer of the Shran-class Escort, USS Kirk.
With a Starfleet pedigree spanning generations, Lane is the daughter of the late Rear – Admiral Eustace “Bull” Hanley – who fell during the Battle of Wolf 359 and is driven to honor & sustain her family’s pride and tradition of service to the United Federation of Planets.
Having served as a Tactical Officer on a number of Escorts and Frigates, Hanley is noted for her assertive style of command and ability to accept the necessity of taking informed risks when the mission demands.
Appearance
Lane Hanley is a Caucasian female of Irish – origin, in her early 30’s, with pale blonde hair and intent blue eyes.
Raised on the colony – world of Enkidu – Prime, she has an athletic build typical of resident’s native to that rugged wilderness environment that typifies her world.
Whilst she carries herself confidently, there is always an air of ready – challenge to her body language – denoting a person that is ready to rise to any confrontation.

Driven, mission – focused and highly motivated are all terms that suitably apply to Lane Hanley.
Obstinate, quick – tempered and stubborn are also fair.
Feeling the weight of legacy upon her shoulders, Lane was driven to excel at the Academy, graduating as a Cadet Commander in the elite Red Squad.
An able tactician, Lane Hanley typifies that breed of Starfleet Officer that is more martial – minded and this personality trait marries well with duty aboard an escort.
The downside of this bullishness is that sometimes Lane can be abrupt or even dismissive of those serving under her and expects near – complete compliance with her orders and directives. Sometimes she’d rather eat her commbadge that admit that she is wrong.
History
Born on the frontier world of, bordering the former Demilitarized Zone, Lane Hanley was brought up within a family shaped by the rugged wilderness of that world and these traits have seen a succession of her relatives serving within Starfleet since that organization’s formation in the 2150’s.
On Stardate 44002.3 (2367 AD) when Lane was just an infant, her father Rear Admiral Eustace Hanley was lost during the Battle of Wolf 359 and this proved to be a defining moment for Lane as she grew up in the shadow of his legacy and found herself driven to try and live up to the weight of his memory.
In 2383 AD, Lane was accepted into Starfleet Academy and attended the Mellstoxx III satellite campus where her intensely competitive nature saw her excel at her studies but sometimes caused friction and proved detrimental to successfully working in a team environment. With time she learned to temper the brash insouciance of youth and went on to serve as a Cadet Commander in the elite cadet Red Squad and served as a Tactical Officer aboard the Academy training vessel, the USS Exeter.
Graduating as the valedictorian of her year in 2387, Hanley received her commission as an Ensign and was assigned to duty with Task Force 72 of Starfleet’s Fourth Fleet and was first assigned as a Junior Tactical Officer aboard the Norway – class Light – Cruiser USS Laikan, serving under Captain Kubitok for two years.
Her combative nature saw her put in for a transfer in 2389 AD and accepted a position aboard the Saber – class Scout/Frigate, USS Spartan and found this duty far more to her liking – serving as Tactical Officer for a further 5 years.
Upon reaching the rank of Lieutenant, Lane was assigned to duty as Strategic Operations Officer aboard the Manticore – class Heavy Escort USS Polyphemus – where she also fulfilled the role of Second Officer.
In time Lane was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and became the Executive Officer of the Polyphemus,
Lane was assigned command of her first ship, the Shran – class Escort USS Kirk and assigned to patrol duties with Task Force 72 along the former Demilitarized Zone, serving with distinction during the war with the Vaadwaur Supremacy in 2402 AD.
