Summary

Brianna Aaliyah Reddick is a Starfleet officer assigned as the Chief Science Officer aboard the USS Odyssey. Formerly a senior professor at the Starfleet Academy Campus on Kovar, Brianna is an accomplished scientist with doctorates in astrophysics, astronomy, and cosmology and is currently pursuing a doctorate in planetology. She is well-known for her research on wormhole formations. A proud Hysperian, she artfully blends her people’s Renaissance-inspired culture with cutting-edge 25th-century science, enriching her contributions with a unique and imaginative perspective.

Appearance

Reddick has expressive, almond-shaped eyes that reflect her keen intellect and curiosity, framed by long, curled-up eyelashes. Her smooth skin glows with a natural radiance, complemented by high cheekbones and a confident smile. Like most Hysperians, she often wears makeup that highlights her natural beauty. It is rare not to see her smiling, both on and off duty. Reddick is known to remain positive in most situations; this is reflected in how she presents herself. When working on an investigation or experiment, she is known to bite her bottom lip if she is focusing. Her hair, often styled in intricate updos or elegant, braided patterns, showcases her versatility and creativity, frequently changing to suit her mood and the occasion. With a graceful build, Reddick’s posture seeps grace and elegance in any situation she is in.

  • Height: 5′ 2″ (1.52 m)
  • Weight: 115 lbs
  • Hair: Black
  • Eyes: Brown

Personality

Reddick is an outgoing and confident individual with a cheeky streak that surfaces when the situation allows. Her infectious positivity, always striving to find the silver lining in every circumstance, is a beacon of inspiration. Known for slipping into Hysperian terminology when describing places, situations, or feelings, Reddick adds a distinctive touch to how she communicates with others. Sometimes, she forgets the universal translator can’t translate for her and finds herself having to repeat herself in non-Hysperian terms and phrases. As a leader, Reddick is particularly supportive of those just starting their careers, believing they need more encouragement than those already on the path to success.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Her love for science in all its forms is evident, with space exploration holding a special place in her heart. Reddick’s playful trait can sometimes get her into trouble as she isn’t shy about flirting with those she finds extremely attractive. However, her excitement and hyperactivity nature, especially when discovering something new, can sometimes be a bit overbearing for those around her. Additionally, her love for socialising, though tempered as she has risen through the ranks, occasionally conflicts with her responsibilities as a leader. But her unwavering love for science and space exploration is a testament to her dedication and passion.

Despite these weaknesses, Reddick’s deep care for her and her pride in her heritage shine through in everything she does. She cherished her time as a teacher at Starfleet Academy, where she found a second passion in imparting knowledge, second only to her love for science. Her genuine enthusiasm makes her a beloved figure among her comrades and subordinates.

Ambition

Rising through the ranks in Starfleet was never Reddick’s intention. Instead, she had always wanted to tour the Federation and engage in as many forms of research as she could.

Biography

Early Life

Brianna Reddick was born on Hysperia, a world known for its rich culture steeped in medieval traditions and mythology. Growing up in a grand castle, Brianna’s early years were filled with the whimsical and fantastical elements that defined her homeworld. She lived in a majestic stone fortress with towering spires and expansive halls. Her constant companion was a small, intelligent dragon, a loyal pet and friend known as Ember. Her parents were well-known in the high echelons of Hysperia society as a Duke and Duchess of a local region. This unique upbringing instilled in her a sense of wonder and adventure. While tales of knights and quests enthralled her friends, Brianna’s insatiable curiosity always led her to the stars. The night skies over Hysperia captivated her, sparking a lifelong passion for science and discovery.

Starfleet Career

Starfleet Academy

Brianna’s fascination with the cosmos led her to leave her homeworld and enrol at Starfleet Academy on Earth. For four years, she immersed herself in the rigorous training and education the Academy offered. Brianna thrived despite the stark contrast between Earth’s modern cities and Hysperia’s medieval landscapes. She specialised in astrophysics and became deeply interested in the mysteries of the universe. Brianna’s natural interest and intelligence made her a standout cadet, and she eagerly took on every scientific challenge. The Academy became a place where she could blend her imaginative spirit with scientific rigour, preparing her for a future among the stars. Being confident and outgoing, Brianna made many friends at the Academy. She was known for her late-night gatherings and weekly parties. Though she enjoyed social life, Brianna was also keen to keep up with her studies. She graduated top of her class and was given the choice of any assignment she wished. Her parents, though, visited her and begged her to return home after graduation. She said no and instead went on to become a Starfleet officer.

USS Europa (NCC-80104)

Upon graduation, Brianna was assigned to the USS Europa, a Luna-class starship known for its deep space exploration missions. As a Science Officer, she played a crucial role during the ship’s three-year mission in the Typhon Expanse, a region of space filled with unknown phenomena. During this time, Brianna found herself in her element, surrounded by discoveries and the excitement of the unknown. The Europa’s journey allowed her to apply her astrophysics expertise to real-world situations, expanding her knowledge and experience. Her time on the Europa solidified her reputation as a talented and resourceful scientist.

USS Jericho (NCC-91804)

Brianna’s next assignment was aboard the USS Jericho, a state-of-the-art Sutherland-class research vessel. Promoted to lieutenant junior grade, she took on a more significant role in several research projects. The Jericho was a mobile laboratory, travelling across the Federation to participate in a wide range of scientific endeavours. During this period, Brianna earned her doctorate, focusing on advanced scientific research. Her work on the Jericho showcased her ability to lead and innovate, setting the stage for further advancements in her career. As the ship’s assistant chief science officer, she worked on hosting many of the Federation’s finest scientific minds when they visited various worlds.

Brianna’s social skills proved valuable to Jericho’s senior staff when dealing with challenging researchers and scientists visiting the ship. She organised jousting tournaments on the ship’s holodeck set in her homeworld of Hysperia. She provided a change of scenery that helped everyone relax and enjoy themselves before working on their research together.

USS Archer (NCC-76725)

In her next role, Brianna joined the USS Archer, a Ross-class starship, as its Chief Science Officer. This position marked a significant step forward in her career, and she relished the opportunity to lead the ship’s scientific missions. The Archer was involved in several joint ventures with the Children of Tama, a species known for their complex communication methods. During her time on the Archer, Brianna pursued another doctorate, this time in astronomy, while balancing her duties as Chief Science Officer. Her five-year tenure on the ship saw her rise to lieutenant commander.

Starfleet Academy Kovar Campus

After years in deep space, Brianna sought to continue her research and share her knowledge with the next generation of Starfleet officers. She transferred to the Starfleet Academy’s Kovar Campus as a professor, where she began teaching cadets. Her passion for education was matched by her desire to push the boundaries of scientific understanding. While at Kovar, Brianna started her subsequent doctorate, this time in cosmology, focusing on the fundamental questions of the universe.

Teaching the next generation of Starfleet officers was as inspiring as her research work was. On one occasion, she caught a group of cadets who were meant to be helping her with her doctorate partying. Though she knew she should have stopped them, instead, she joined them and soon realised she could no longer keep up with the younger officers.

In 2400, she was promoted to commander and became a senior professor, guiding young minds and leading groundbreaking research projects. A year later, she embarked on a new research initiative, delving into the complexities of wormhole formations, further expanding her contributions to science and Starfleet.

USS Odyssey (NCC-80000)

Captain Max Duncan visited Brianna while she was teaching. A colleague had advised him of Brianna’s work and recommended her to take over as the Odyssey’s new Chief Science Officer. Intrigued by his offer, especially with the sudden arrival of the underspace corridors across the galaxy, she agreed.
