”What can I do for you Commander?“ The Commodore had a stoic expression on his face.

”I’m quite a busy man, you know?“

”My deepest apologies, Commodore, but I had some concerns that I wanted to talk about.“

“Hmm?” The Commodore was also curious when he heard this statement.

“I’m concerned for the crew of the Encinitas. I’m not quite sure they would hold up against the Borg quite well. As you know Commodore, the Encinitas is mostly crewed by Ensigns and such. People who are in their first or second ship assignments.“ Liam was starting to think the Commodore wouldn’t accommodate his request of transfer.

”I’m guessing, you want to be reassigned?“ replied the Commodore.

“Aye, sir.” Liam was worried at this point. The Commodore could reject his request here, then on. His request was not justified at any point and he would technically be leaving his own crew for another ship.

”I would quite agree that the California-class starship isn’t the right one for this type of mission, but I would still have to check the availability of the starships within the sector.“ replied the Commodore.

”What would happen to your crew however? As most of your crew are mostly Lieutenants and below.” asked the Commodore.

”I will ask my senior bridge officers and department heads, if they wish to transfer ship assignments, I will offer them a position on the new starship. If they choose to stay, then I will respect that decision.“

”If I’m not mistaken, most of your senior officers and department heads are already familiar with this type of missions? For namesake, a Lieutenant Camelia Marsh?” asked the Commodore.

“You are correct, Commodore. Lieutenant Marsh has worked with Starfleet R&D in the past. She’s quite experienced compared to the rest of the department heads.“

”I heard, she was almost recruited by Starfleet Intelligence after graduating Starfleet Academy.“ replied the Commodore.

”Quite right, Sir, she was even supposed to be in my original team, that I commanded but she declined the offer and got invited to work in the R&D department, then transferred to the Encinitas.“

“Interesting.” The Commodore was also quite impressed.

”I assume she would be the first person you would recruit to your new starship, if there’s any available.“

”Correct Sir, and I would also bring Lieutenant Commander Fowler with me also. She has worked with me in the intelligence sector and would be a great help.“ Said Liam. He was hoping that the crew would just go along their merry ways in helping the Federation run daily tasks and escape the danger this mission posed.

“I shall see what I can do, Captain.“ For the meantime, scout out any location or planets that have been said to report sightings of the Borg again. Don’t get too close, observe as far as possible and retreat if necessary. I will contact you of my decision soon.“

”Thank you Commodore.“ replied Liam.

“Ekwueme out.”

Liam sighed a breath of relief after the Commodore ended his transmission. Now, Liam has to hope that there’s a ship out there somewhere in the docks and that the crew of the Encinitas will go on their merry way out of danger.

”Commander Fowler, to my ready room pls.“ Liam called Nydia back in the ready room to discuss the future of this crew and what they will say to the crew after this.
