She blinked her eyes, looking up she saw a wrinkly nose and it was attached to a silver earring that was her CMO, “Jo, what’s going on?” she said.
“Good to see you Captain, everyone made it, they are clearing away the debris. You took the brunt of it, the tree came in right above your head. We still don’t know how you made it, but you were knocked out.” Jovan said.
“I am confused, is this the Kill-the-Captain Boat?” Meila asked refering to the Pow.
“Captain?” Jovan queried.
“Nevermind.” Meila said struggling to get up. She really was wondering whenever the Powhatan would get a new Commanding Officer something bad would happen to them. She was hoping that this was it for her.
“Here let me help you.” Jovan said offering his hand.
The two of them left the Runabout out of the side hatch Meila took a look at the silver lining, the top was fine, Aiyana had managed to land ontop of the brush.
“You expect me to climb down?” Meila smiled.
“We used the emergency slide Captain. You can use that if you want.” Jovan smirked.
“I want to carefully explore the damage up here. Priority is to get this thing flying again if we can. How are her sub-systems?” Meila asked.
“I’m the doctor. You should ask Lt. Walton, she took charge.” Dr. Jovan avoided that subject fast.
“Oh ok.” Meila said. She was happy for assertive officers. She tapped on her combadge… “Tris to Walton, come in.”
“Captain! I am glad you are alright!” Walton said in her English Accent.
“Thank you, status report please?” Meila asked abrubtly.
As she listed everything off, Meila looked at Jovan and nodded. Jovan had a history of leading, he was in the Bajoran Militia before he was in Starfleet, for years.
“Ok, ok, ok, ok….. Elisabeth… STOP.” Meila grew impatient. “How are my crew?”
“They’re fine.” Walton said.
“They’re fine? No injuries?”
“Aiyana is shaken up, but I sent her out with Ensign Green to scout.” Walton said.
“Okay. Call them in.” Meila ordered and closed the commline. “Jovan, for the duration of the mission you are my second.”
She jumped down the emergency slide. She wasn’t mad, but she was concerned about Aiyana, this was her first mission. She wasn’t about to let Walton’s ambition get in the way of her Captain-ey duty. She grabbed from her kit an elastic and put her hair up, as the scouting team returned to camp.
“We are picking weird things out there.” Green reported.
“Thank you both. How are you Ensign Peacegrove?” Meila acknowledged.
Aiyana burst out crying, she was so upset, “I am glad you made it. I am so sorry. I have never crashed before! I am a good pilot I swear!”
“Aiyana, it happens. You scratched the paint, that’s all. We all made it, and you landed ontop of trees.” Meila said resting her hands on Aiyana’s shoulders. “You did good. All of you did. Right going forward, our priority is finding the Crew of the San Jose and figuring out how the heck we are getting off of here. The Runabout is trashed. So we are on own. So, I want Lt. Walton and Ensign Grieves & Green and Peacegrove out there on Scouting. Phasers on Heavy Stun. We will make this center camp, there is something weird with this planet, on how it was not on any maps. Stay close.”
