Location: USS Paso Robles, Cargo Bay One
Things are definitely starting to get interesting aboard the Paso Robles. Renato wasn’t the only one finding love. Well in his case he didn’t really find it he’s just reestablishing it with his wife, cuz they had merely she’s earlier in the year. However this story isn’t about him.
T’Shan wasn’t certain how she felt, but she knew it was more than mere professionalism between her and another officer. But this other officer really hadn’t done much to really prove his courting ship or his interest in her. But she still felt a strange connection to him. And according to their customs it’s more customary for a Vulcan to pursue a mate than it is for the mate to pursue a female Vulcan.
Part of her problem was though that he was not a Vulcan, and even though there had been some Vulcans who had mated with others outside of their own race, it wasn’t very common.
She knew if you pursued this she would be ridiculed by her peers. But what it be worth it? The person in question hadn’t really shown that much interest in her beyond being nice. But the person just seemed to be a nice person in general, maybe that was her infatuation with him.
Was being nice simply enough to risk ridicule and potential shame of one her people and two if he said no to her. The ramifications of that decision paralyzed her in a sense. She couldn’t ignore her feelings even though she doesn’t like to express them. But she also didn’t want to be rejected, but she also wanted to know if there was truly a shot between them.
How does she overcome that paralyzation effect. When did she decide that it’s worth the effort and the risk? She decided that her best course action was probably to tell her best friend Lira, what she’d already been asking who the guy was.
T’Shan walked into the cargo bay it started immediately make her way towards Lira’s office. She could see her best friend sitting in the office, and this is perfect because that way she could have this conversation without the cameras necessarily rolling on them. Granted there was cameras inside the office but there was also the sense of privacy in the office so unless judge advocate general ordered these release there should be no reason anybody would read or listen to any recordings.
T’Shan realize she’s being a little paranoid when she’s worried about other people listening in on to her personal conversations about potentially liking somebody. She need to start we had better things to do than to spy on a low ranking Helmsman aboard a California class vessel like the Paso Robles.
“T’Shan, I wasn’t expecting you. What do I owe the pleasure of this visit?” Lira asked with a big grin on her face. She had just completed her rounds of inventory process and she was already working with Lieutenant Montoya of Overwatch station on their next delivery schedule in the next couple of days.
“I was hoping to talk to you, about an inquiry that you made recently.” T’Shan simply replied in a sterile unemotional like voice.
“I was hoping we would have this conversation.” Lira said with the warm smile on her face. She was hoping that she would mention the new guy that she was interested in. Lira had been waiting for this information she helped us what it was about.
“Indeed.” T’Shan replied stoically. She was stalling, trying to work up the courage in order to talk about something that was so sensitive and personal to her.
“Would you care to sit down, it looks like you can definitely use a chair. It looks like you’re processing something going through your thoughts right now?” Lira ass, trying to make her feel a little more comfortable, and also to get the information out of her.
“What do you think of Ensign Taren Voss?” T’Shan simply just asked being directed to the point, allowing her vulcan-like mannerisms to just dictate the start of this conversation. She decided to jump straight in without thinking about the consequences a little impulsive for a Vulcan but also a lot like a Vulcan in another sense.
“He’s a good officer, is that who you have a crush on?” Lira ass with a curious look on her face, she wasn’t sure if this was the guy or she was trying to work up to tell him who the real guy was was it him or was he a friend of the guy, it was hard to tell at this stage.
“Crush?” T’Shan replied, understanding the context of the word but not understanding it in the aspect of what she was saying. But the more she thought about it maybe it was a crush, but that would be an emotional lucid response which is something that she wasn’t used to.
“I prefer to use the term admiration for.” T’Shan simply replied in response. She was again directing straight to the point.
“Okay we’ll go with admiration, does he know?” Lira asked and she waited for her best friend to tell her.
“I have not directly asked him or inquired about any courtships rituals.” T’Shan pointed out to Lira.
“Courtship? You guys don’t believe in dating?” Lira asked a little confused. Usually courtships are somebody that wants to get married to somebody not something she would expect from another culture right off the bat. How they supposed to know if they’re compatible, but then she remembered that’s exactly what a courtship was designed for.
“I am familiar with the concept but it’s not something my society does if I’m translating correctly to the construct of the idea of dating.” T’Shan said as she carefully tried to constrain her words in simple layman’s terms.
“I think he’s a good guy, but if you approach him talking about a courtship he may not be receptacle to that.” Lira pointed out to her.
“I am not used to this term dating, is it not the same thing?” T’Shan asked Lira.
“Yes or no, you can date somebody thinking that you might want to try a courtship but then discover you don’t have anything in common with them after all despite the attraction or as you would call the admiration.” Lira pointed out to her.
“I see, is it customary and human cultures for females to ask out the males of their species? It’s customary in my world for Vulcan females to reach out to the Vulcan males.” T’Shan pointed out to her.
“Typically the males ask out the females, but they’re always exceptions to every rules and humans are very flexible. I think you should ask him, he might surprise you.” Lira suggested.
“So it would be inappropriate for me to ask him.” T’Shan sad feeling a little defeated by that response, it wasn’t the one she was hoping for.
“Not necessarily, like I said they’re always exceptions in human culture is very adaptable. I think you should proceed, I still stand by that. As you stated yourself he’s a good guy and you would be a fool if you didn’t at least explore the possibility.” Lira suggested to her.
“I appreciate your input thank you so much. I will keep you updated. Live long in prosper.” T’Shan said as she gave a Vulcan salute and the scene starts to fade away.
