Elsie had completed the change of of command protocol with the former commanding officer of deep space station 404 also known as Overwatch Station. The station was being repurposed to support her new logistical squadron.

But the main theater support being turned away from scientific exploration in this area Starfleet believed it’s resources would be better utilize in a@qqlogistical support fashion. This far out there wasn’t very many supply runs, a supply station or Depot where people can get resupplied without having to go deep back into the Federation territory.

Commodore Elsie Coleman first task was to staff the station personnel. The new purpose for the station would become linguistics and logistic support for the Fourth Fleet in this area of operation. There primary mission will focus on resupplying the fleet.

“Mom, this station is so small.” Mila suggested. In her mind all Starfleet stations were like Earth Space Dock. This was her first visit to a Jupiter Class Space Station.

It’s a good size station, you’re going to get you’re very room.” Elsie said as she looks around the command area of the station. “I’ll spend a lot of time here.”

“Doing what exactly?” Mila asked slightly annoyed and half interested.

“Delivering self sealing stem bolts, is my guess.” Amber teased, with a big smirk on her face.

“Really?” Hope asked, thinking that was silly. “Mommy did you make someone mad?” She had to ask, in her mind Mom must have made someone mad to get this assignment.

“No sweetheart, I asked for this assignment.” Elsie simply said to Hope.

“Did I make you mad?” Hope asked, she was trying to figure out why her mom chose this station and assignment.

“No sweetheart, I needed a change in my life. To be closer to you three, and Daddy too.” Elsie suggested to her daughters.

“Where so far away, are they any other kids here?” Mila asked, hoping there was.

“It’s a small station, 500 crew max. We’re part of 500.” Elsie started to say.

“We’re the only kids?” Amber asked, deeply concerned.

“There are 42 they will live on this station.” Elsie pointed out to the three of them.

“I hope some are my age.”’Hope called out. She wanted to play with other kids.

“There are kids around you’re age here.” Elsie said as she looked to Hope, then to Amber and Mila.

“Are you sure about this Mom?” Amber asked, hoping her Mom would change her mind.

“I’m sure, you love it here. Like you did on the Paladin. “I’ll make sure the promenade will be kid friendly.

“We need a playground Mom, ya totally a playground.” Amber suggested. She really wanted one.

“I’ll see what I can do.” Elsie said, not sure if she could get a playground gym on the station.

“Mom can we help you look for one?” Mila asked, hoping her mother would say yes.

“I’ll have to talk to the corps of engineers, and no Amber they are not the corps of party poopers.” Elsie said, knowing what Amber would say.

“Remains to be seen Mom.” Amber retorted back to her mother. She was slightly annoyed, not at her mother. She was annoyed because the corps of engineers usually take anything fun away from her. That had been her experience so far.

“We can’t get everything, sweetheart.” Elsie tried to point out to her. She fears it was going in one ear and out the other ear.

“All we want is a playground and some friends, that’s all Mom.” Amber pointed out to her mother with a little snark.

“Anyone want to explore the station with me?”

Elsie asked eirg a warm smile on her face.

All three girls were eager, in unisense they all said. “Me.” it was adorable. The scene fades away.

A warm and heartfelt beginning. Elsie's dedication to her children adds depth and heart to what could have been just another Starfleet assignment. Looking forward to seeing how this "small station" evolves!
