For a ship with only 2 medical officers, it was nice to see the amount of personnel who showed up when needed. There were two Security officers stationed outside of the Medical Doors, which is standard at red alert. The First batch started to arrive via stretchers, there was Commander Andrew Morris .
“He was right beside the explosion, he tried to save Rodney,” the paramedic said, Dr. Heron looked down and a tear rolled down his face, ‘He must be in such pain.’
“Emotions Frances, concentrate on your job, I got Triage Dr. Heron.”
“Thank you Counselor.”
The doors opened, and the more started to pour in, he looked over at the EMH and LMH, ”EMH head over to Cetacean Ops and stabilize. Dr. Clarke tend to those who came in. Nurse Tunsla with me. LMH do what you do baby!”
|1 hour later
As it stood, the medical bay was designed for a maximum of 20 people, not for a mass emergency, the LMH blinked and continued to analyze, “According to internal sensors there was 50 lifeforms injured. We are unable to treat them all in sickbay. I recommend using Cargo bay.” it said as it walked over and carried a patient to the bed.
“Alright, tell the bridge in the way you can,” Heron said as he was feeling inside for shrapnel. “Nurse take over. Be careful the shrapnel can be sharp, and sting you. Andrew had no known blood issues, but still be careful. Computer which cargo bay can I use for a makeshift Medical Bay?”
“There is no Cargo in Cargo bay 8.”
“Sickbay to bridge, we need Cargo Bay 8, initial reports coming we are going to drown in injuries here.” he reported.
“Very well, we will make it so.” H’Lai said.
“He will be fine, just came close that’s all.” Heron said.
“Thank you.” she said with relief.
“Doctor, should I prepare the Surgical bay for Commander Morris?”
“Did you get all the shrapnel?” he asked.
“Yes.” Nurse Tunsla said.
Frances, the young Lt. JG took the tricorder and ran it over the unconcious man. He picked up one last piece in his Achilles Tendant. “Nurse, was it a technical malfunction or a human malfunction? He has shrapnel in his leg.”
“My Apologies Doctor.” the Nurse said.
“Don’t apologize to me, apologize to the Commander, he would of been ripped to shreds if he was transported in there. Please be more careful.” he said walking away. He sat at his desk for a moment.
“Knock, knock.” came the voice of Kas.
“Qui…. I mean Who is there?” Frances said fighting the urge to speak French.
“You are exhausted Frances, go get some rest.”
“I have to finish up with the Commander.” Frances said.
“Let the LMH or EMH do it.” Kas said.
“I have people in the hallway, I am not going anywhere til I get more long term care beds.” he said sternly
“H’Lai is on it.” Kas reassured.
The med doors were propped open, the Security officers nodded as Talat walked by with a padd of allocation.
“I can sleep at my desk that way if anything happens I am here.” he said.
“Doctor, go get some rest, we are starting the transfers to the Cargo bay.” Talat said in soldier mode.
“Oh my lord, Talat, please let me finally take a look at your arm.” He said.
“Only if you get some rest afterwards Doctor. Here is the loadout of the Cargo bed, all long term care beds, connected to the holo command console of the deck, able to be protected by all systems.”
“Perfect Talat.” he said running a tricorder over the Ferengi’s arm and body. Her arm was shattered right at the elbow rendering the lower part of the arm useless. “Can I repair the bone plate?” he asked. Knowing the last thing they needed was a chase through the med deck.
“Not right now, when you get up.” Talat said patting him with a good arm.
He nodded and went to Dr. Clarke and Dr. Mistrel, gave orders and gave orders to the holographic crew to handle the Long Term injured facility. And went to lay down for 4 hours.
“Well done Talat, I am proud of you.” Kas said.
“Thank you Counselor.” she said coldly.
“Is there something bothering you?” Kas grew concerned.
“How’s the Commander?” Talat asked.
“He’s in surgery now. Do you want to go watch over it?” Kas asked.
Talat started to tear up, “Yes please.”
“Alright let’s go.” Kas said.
