The USS Marlowe, an aging Nova-class starship, has vanished during its mission to survey stellar phenomena beyond Federation space. Starfleet Command dispatches the Lakota to investigate. As the crew hunts for clues, they encounter locals who have seen the Marlowe and interacted with her crew, a crew acting… suspiciously.

Lakota‘s quest soon brings them to the edge of a menacing black hole where they find fragmented remnants of the Marlowe trapped in its gravitational pull. With no signs of survivors and uncertainty about whether this is all that remains of the ship, the crew discovers a damaged log buoy.

Through the fragmented logs they uncover, Captain Nazir and her crew unravel the Marlowe‘s last mission; the pursuit of a Borg vessel acting strangely throughout the sector. But as their investigation into the fate of the science vessel deepens, tension among the crew rises in the aftermath of the Frontier Day massacre.

Could there be another showdown with the Borg looming?
