Rumours, gossip and secondhand hearsay had all it had ever been; tales of a rogue Federation starship appearing shortly before the convoy or lone transport vessel that had spotted it, found themselves under attack from Orion Pirates.  The name of the ship even sometimes the class seemed to change from one attack to the next, making the whole thing seem even more fanciful.

Then the ‘Lost Fleet’ returned and a scramble to bring as many retired ships back into service to aid in the Fourth Fleets efforts to stem and eventually reverse the tide of war.  That’s when they discovered all the rumours could very well be true; on of their starships was missing.

For Robert Eglin, Captain of the Excelsior-class, USS Valparaiso, the search for the stolen vessel, quickly turns into an obsession.  Every step brings him tantalisingly close to his quarry only to find it slip clear of the net and the chase begin again.   Will desperation lead to mistakes made and lines being crossed?
