Hello, everyone!
A few months ago, the Bravo Fleet Admiralty and the COs decided to suspend the fleet’s Academy. We didn’t have the people or the infrastructure to support such a large project, so we decided to put it on the back burner until we found someone capable of building a completely new system. I’m happy to announce that we’ve finally found someone to help relaunch this crucial aspect of our fleet.
The Commandant
Earlier today, the Admiralty and the COs finished voting in our new Academy Commandant: Rear Admiral Violet Salvati, also known as Kitty. Admiral Salvati has been simming for over 23 years across multiple communities. Developing curriculum as Commandant and Vice Commandant for two other fleets, she’s one of the most experienced instructors I know. In the coming weeks, she’ll be working with the BFA and COs to develop an Academy tailored to our needs as a community. Once she’s settled, you’ll hear more from her about plans for the Academy and how you can help!
The Academy
With the debut of Picard, we’re hoping to bring some new faces into our hobby. Cap’s already had some amazing results with getting the fleet’s name out there, so we need a system in place to educate the next generation of simmers. There are four official courses planned for right now: a Commanding Officer Course, focusing on communication, leadership, and storytelling; an Executive Officer Course, focusing on sim support, communication, and crisis management; a Cadet (Player) Course, focusing on character building and writing skills; and a returning Commanding Officer Course, focusing on some of our updated policies.
The Academy will eventually be supported by a full website, where members of our community can enroll in courses and get feedback directly from our instructors. We’re still in the early stages, so it will take some time to bring everything online. Stay tuned for more updates!
