[Phase 1]: STO: Say What You Want To Sela

Romulans. Always three layers of subtext, wrapped in intrigue, with a dash of subterfuge. They love secrecy, especially the remnants of the Romulan Star Empire in Star Trek Online. They are the one faction that constantly comes up throughout the game, disruptors blaring away and cloaking devices activating. And boy, do they love speaking about their superiority.

No one is quite as bad as Sela. Self-appointed Empress of the Star Empire, not only is she the antagonist to players within the game, she also has the biggest arc in the game and for good reason considering there’s some really despicable things she did but for some very understandable reasons. That pesky half Human brain of hers. Because of this, she has the most dialogue in the game of the special guest stars. She is an integral part of the game; without Sela, several story arcs would not exist.

But what would happen if you could respond to Sela?

The programmers behind Star Trek Online have not yet made the game completely interactive; all speech is very carefully crafted to be basically on rails, with no variation or response possible, other than possibly a dialogue option or two. Try as we might, we have no ability to respond to anything Sela says. So in this competition, you’re going to write out what you have always wanted to respond to Sela with, on any line of her dialogue in Star Trek Online.

Criteria

• Find a line of dialogue from Sela that you think you have a response for, and screenshot it in game. Post it to your response.
• Write out a response to Sela, as if it were you or your character.
• Take it in any direction you want, but please, no “yo momma” jokes. Criteria will be the more creative the response, the better. Humor can be used, but just keep it in context.
• Maximum 150 words. Keep it short and sweet.
