The Worst Breach
Description
As an Engineer there is nothing worse than having your ships warp core malfunction, usually because this can lead to bigger issues. So when the warp core breaches what do you do? Do you risk your characters life to save the ship? Or try something not quite so drastic?
The goal of this writing prompt is to see how you would handle such a situation. Could the character survive going into the core while its active? This is all up to you, but the goal is to help you think better as an Engineer.
Details:
- The story should reflect the officer and their devotion to the duty they have been given.
- It should include the complex parts of Engineering and how an officer should navigate through those issues.
- Dive into the emotions of the character and how they might feel while dealing with such a weighty issue.
Criteria
- Stories should be submitted directly to the BFMS, and your entry should be a link to the published story. Stories should be at least 1,000 words and no more than 2,500 words.
- Stories will be graded in accordance with the Bravo Fleet Fiction Rubric, which marks on the following criteria: Language, Style, & Mechanics; Adherence to Canon; Perspective; Characterization; Originality; Use of the Prompt.
- This story must be created after this competition opens and before it closes, so as not to reuse any existing stories. This will be judged based on the publication date of the story within the BFMS.
- Your story must be a single-author post, not a joint post.
- Using generative AI for this competition is forbidden.
