It’s been a long road, getting from there to here….

Description

Background: Before the devastation of WWIII, the terror of the Eugenics Wars or even the advent of the United Earth Starfleet, Humanity had reached outwards to the cosmos – ever eager to forge a meaningful connection and express their collective desire to (one day) join in a Galactic – community.

From the 1950’s onwards, this took the form of primitive, but pioneering unmanned space probes that paved the way towards the future we inhabit now in the 25th Century. (Some even came back to haunt us!).

Mission:

  • The player is invited to use any open – source of available information to try and match the posted ‘Distance from Earth’ (as recorded when this competition launches) to match and identify which real – life space probe that distance value most closely corresponds to.
  • The following “Distances from Earth” (in Miles) must be matched to a named space probe – launched from Earth, in real-life.

Criteria

  • Entries must be submitted through this competition.
  • As the probes in question are still proceeding on mission, the approximate distance of the probe from Earth on your submission date/time will be taken into account when grading your submission.
  • 1 point will be awarded to each correct answer. The player that answers the most correct questions will be confirmed as the winner.
  • An extra point will be awarded for any player that includes an interesting historical fact about one or more of the probes identified.
  • This is a timed competition. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by the player who completes their submission in the shortest time, as tracked by BFMS.
