After this mission, I can confidently say that Bravo Fleet offers exactly that. In this fleet-wide mission, we cheered each other on as we wrote our stories, completed challenges, and met up for game nights. New cadets should consider that it’s not just a game they are joining - it’s a community, and it’s one that thrives on the ideas of new members, and where everyone - regardless of rank or seniority - contributes. |

My name is James, I play a number of roleplay characters in the Star Trek Fan Community, Bravo Fleet and assist new players as a “Task – Force” Executive Officer – but more of that later. I actually joined Bravo Fleet a number of years ago (I am actually so very, very old that I started playing tabletop RPG’s in the 1970’s and actually used to play ‘play by mail’ games – the forerunner to the anciently - clunky PBEM genre) and, although I was a member of many such “Sims” of the time – enjoying inhabiting the narrative ‘Skins’ of my own creations, Bravo Fleet was always a positive community and welcoming cadre of like – minded people from around the world that always drew me back and did not judge my commitment or time. After a long hiatus (real – life affording an equal share of exploration and challenges) of 5 years, I recently returned to the 4th Fleet to indulge in my first love – creative writing. What I encountered was an entire New Frontier of innovation and opportunity. In addition to joining in collaborative role-playing with fellow fans in a traditional ‘sandbox’ interaction, I discovered that the Bravo Fleet community welcomed me back to singular opportunities to write my own stories on my own RP ship, to craft and engage in player competitions. Discord wasn’t even – when I was last here and opened up the opportunity to socialize and meet new people and hone my knowledge and application of Star Trek lore (even though I have been around since the time of Shatner) and embrace new things. If you are a returning member like me, just plain skeptical, or hopefully ready to join with fellow voyagers and embark upon an ongoing adventure into the realms of friendship and discovery – I welcome you, and hope you choose to join us.
