Biography

Early Life

Beatrice never met her father, as he died in a shuttle accident when she was just a baby. She rarely spent time with her mother while growing up. Her mother devoted most of her time to overseeing the shipping company her father had founded when they moved to Kovar. Consequently, Beatrice had holographic nannies who cared for her until she started school. In her teenage years, Beatrice decided she wanted to leave Kovar and applied to Starfleet Academy during her final years of high school. She completed the entrance exams and passed with flying colours. It wasn’t long before she was packed and ready to head to the Mellstoxx Campus.

Moving to a new planet far away from her mother, who hadn’t even realised Beatrice was leaving, was a smart move from Beatrice’s perspective. As she had always needed to look after herself, Beatrice prioritised her studies. She wanted to be the best and would do anything to be at the top of her class. ” Whatever it takes ” was her mantra for the first year. Though she impressed many of her instructors and professors, they all agreed on one thing: she wasn’t always a good team player. Hoping to improve this, she was encouraged to apply when the opportunity arose for a small unit of cadets- the best of the best- to join a field training unit on board the USS Odyssey. Many of her teachers hoped that working on a starship and seeing the importance of teamwork would influence her positively.  

USS Odyssey (NCC-80000)

For the next two years, Beatrice enjoyed the luxury of serving on board an Odyssey-class starship. She was spoilt and felt that she had proven herself on many occasions. In reality, her fellow cadets found it hard to connect with her and would often avoid working with her due to her abrupt and blunt approaches. Nevertheless, she admired her unit leader, Commander Karyn Reyas and her studies in the sciences continued to improve thanks to Reyas’ influence.

Similar to other younger Starfleet officers, Beatrice fell victim to the scheme devised by the rogue Changeling infiltrators in collaboration with the last surviving Borg Queen, aiming to dismantle the Federation by assimilating its younger members. She remembered the whole ordeal and the moment she was stunned by a member of the senior staff when she and others attempted to take control of the Odyssey. Though she attended counselling, one thing that impacted her was the urge to be close to others. For the first time in her life, she opened up to her counsellor about this, and they encouraged her to develop some positive relationships with others.

She ended up becoming romantically involved with fellow cadet Jordan Duncan-Court. The two become quite a popular couple among their peers, though it was not enough for Beatrice, so she started also to see his best friend and fellow cadet, Alfie McCallister-Reyas, behind Jordan’s back. Eventually, they broke off their affair when Beatrice caught Alfie kissing Jordan. She also broke up with Jordan thereafter, deciding she wanted to return her focus on her.

USS Astra (NCC-96894)

At the start of 2402, the entire training squad were reassigned to the USS Astra as part of an expansion to the Odyssey Squadron. Beatrice joined the rest of her teammates and continued to focus on her studies, proving to others that she was serious about her work to become a science officer one day before entering the command track.
