Early life → 2364 ∼ 2384

Being born on Cardassia during the Bajoran occupation and then growing up during the Dominion War, life has been really hard. At an early age, she decides to forgo her born Cardassian name and adopt the name Samantha, hoping this will make life easier for her when she leaves her world, life, to become a nurse. So that’s what she did at the age of 17. She applied for the Academy but because of where she was born and came from, she and from what transpired years ago in the Dominion War. This leads her to spend 3 years travelling from planet to planet and helping out healing people and helping different races fight different outbreaks in their world. Sometimes she got the blame, other times they just didn’t want her to help. From time to time, she found a planet that wanted assistance. She knew this would be hard for her to apply, but she finally made it after her second attempt.

Starfleet Academy → 2384 ∼ 2389

Starfleet was hard, very hard. No one liked her for the first year. She spent most of her time on her own. The only time she was ever really around people was when she was in class. Then came the attack on Mars and the ban on artificial life forms, which took the heat off. Samantha and she were able to make friends through the grief and help them cope with their loss of friends and family. The next 3 years went quite quickly, and she even stayed on for an extra year to gain extra knowledge on how to treat the many kinds of people/races she was going to meet in the coming years.

USS Bellona NCC 76547 → 2389 ∼ 2401

Life aboard the USS Bellona was not an easy one because of her background of being a Cardassian. A few of the crew members resented her and made her life difficult, but she was not letting that bother her. To help her home her anger towards her fellow crew members, she took on meditation sessions in the holodeck and self-control lessons by doing forms of self-defence class also on the holodeck. During the whole time on board the ship even through her great work and dedication she was passed over for promotion a few times and it was not till she was in her 8 years on board she finally got the promotion to a Nursing Assistant, holding the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.

USS Gilroy NCC 12110 → 2400

Shortly after the disruption by the Borg, their attack disrupted Frontier Day, and with the loss of so many ships. The USS Gilroy was brought back into service to help with resupply missions and then into service of doing second contact. Since coming aboard the Gilroy, they made her feel welcomed by the crew of the Gilroy. No one pushed her away or even made her feel bad for who she was or where she came from. Yeah, there were a few people who did hate the Cardassians for everyone that they killed in both the Bajoran Occupation and mainly the Dominion War, but they didn’t hate Samantha because they went off what they saw in her and what her service record said about her. Within a year of being on board, the USS Gilroy Samantha received another promotion to lieutenant and the position of Charge Nurse.
