Dacio served the USS Mariner during the events of the aperture appearance and was dragged with the crew of the Mariner into underspace. He was vital in finding out where they were, the situation, and how to return to Federation space that Lieutenant Scott was out of commission when she rescued Commander Ruslanovna. Upon returning to Federation space, Dacio was reassigned to Hecate Station as its new Chief Science Officer.
