Summary
Lieutenant Commander Oliver Darwin was a 25th century Human male Starfleet officer. Darwin is currently on a leave of absence following Frontier Day 2401.
History
Early History
Oliver was born on the 16th of May, 2343 in London, England located on the European continent of Earth. Both his mother and father served in Starfleet, as Admiral. When Oliver was old enough to begin school, his parents requested to be stationed in the Sol System. His mother would take the position of Earth Spacdock’s new commanding officer and his father a position as the Deputy Head of Starfleet Medical. As a result, Oliver would grow up around his older siblings.
Starfleet Career
Starfleet Academy
When he had come of age he would apply to Starfleet Academy. Mostly due to the reputation of his parents, he would be accepted on his first try. During his four years at the academy, he would primarily focus on strategy and tactics, as well as tactical analysis. He would also study flight control, basic hand-to-hand combat, command and control, and basic xenolinguistics. He would also study anthropology and historiography. Upon graduating from the Academy he would be top of his class and would have As across the board.
Early Career
During his early Starfleet career, he would serve aboard two ships the USS Victory a Constellation-class starship and the sister ship of the USS Stargazer, and the USS Excalibur an Ambassador-class ship and the sister ship of the USS Enterprise-C.
Upon being assigned to the Victory, Oliver would serve as a security officer. He would hold the rank of Ensign and would assist in the duties of his fellow department members as well as those who were in other departments. He served on the Victory for six years before being transferred to his next assignment aboard the Excalibur.
After being assigned to the Excalibur he would serve as a tactical officer. He would continue to hold the rank of Ensign and would serve on board the ship for six years. He would then be transferred to his dream ship the USS Enterprise-E.
Enterprise-E | (2375 – 2380)
After having served aboard the Victory and the Excalibur, Starfleet Command had him promoted, and transferred to the Enterprise-E which was under the command of the legendary Captain Jean-Luc Picard. He would serve as a tactical officer and would be present when the ship conducted a diplomatic mission with the Evora. And he would continue to serve aboard the ship during its Mission to Romulus, and the subsequent Battle of the Bassen Rift.
After returning to Earth after the Battle of the Bassen Rift, Darwin along with the crew of the Enterprise-E was moved to the San Francisco Fleet Yards for repairs. Starfleet Command would reassign Lieutenant Darwin to Earth Spacedock.
Earth Spacedock | (2380 – 2385)
After serving on the Enterprise-E for five years he would be transferred to Earth Spacedock. Where he would serve for five years as a Threat Assessment & Response Officer he would later be transferred to the USS Dauntless.
USS Dauntless | (2385 – 2390)
After having served aboard Earth Spacedock Lieutenant Darwin was transferred to the Dauntless under the command of Admiral Kathryn Janeway. It was during this time he would serve as the Assistant Chief Tactical Officer. He was onboard when the Dauntless was tasked with tracking down the USS Protostar. After this incident command would have him evaluated and would later decide to put him on a leave of absence.
Leave of Absence | (2390 – 2396)
Starfleet Command placed him on a forced leave of absence, but the reasoning and where he was at is CLASSIFIED. After ten years of not being in service, command contacted Oliver for reinstatement as a Lieutenant Commander. He agreed and was sent to a special Starfleet Academy course where he was brought up to date on all of Starfleet’s new protocols and regulations.
The following year in 2395 after completing the course Darwin was placed on board as the Chief Tactical Officer aboard the USS Bonchune.
USS Bonchune| (2396 – 2401)
After completing his special course at the Academy, Darwin was promoted and was placed on board the Bonchune as the ship’s new Chief Tactical Officer. Where he would meet Kazjra Zel, a female joined trill.
His services aboard the ship spanned six years, during which he served as the ship’s Chief Tactical Officer. In 2401, he was reassigned to the USS Venture (NCC-75306), and placed as the ship’s Chief Tactical Operations Officer.
USS Venture | (2401)
After the special course at the Academy, and his subsequent assignment as the Chief Tactical Officer of the USS Zheng-He. Lieutenant Commander Darwin was placed on board the USS Venture as its new Chief Tactical Operations Officer. While the ship was participating in the Frontier Day 2401 ‘Fleet Formation Demonstration’ was aboard the bridge of the ship. After narrowly escaping the bridge he tried to help anyone he came across. Evidently, he was aided by a few security officers as they tried to regain the ship, and right before Darwin’s eyes, the Borg-infested crewmembers killed them all. He was able to back away and save one person from the ten officers who were with him. After hitting away he sought refuge in the officer’s mess. As soon as he sat down the events of what happened replayed in his head over and over again. He then suffered a panic attack while sitting in the mess hearing the screams of his fellow crewmembers.
Then everything went silent and the door opened, he prepared himself. He stood up phaser drawn but then relieved it was only to be Kazjra. After noticing he had been crying she walked over to him took the phaser out of his hands and gave him a hug as he sat on the ground. He then began to cry again as he sat with him holding him close. After they left the mess hall they would both go on a leave of absence.
Leave of Absence | (2401 – Present)
Following Frontier Day 2401, Darwin would go on a leave of absence and would be joined by Kazjra.
Personality
Darwin is the kind of guy that charges into danger with a somewhat plan and hopes the odds shift in his favor. He is dedicated to his work, and as such his accomplishments have not made him egocentric or prideful, instead, he tends to use his knowledge to empower and encourage those around him. His level of professionalism is extremely high, he does however ease up ever so slightly during social events.
Strengths & Weakness
Being an extremely quick thinker, Darwin is someone who any Starfleet captain can depend upon to come up with a solution to any tactical or security problem he comes across. His out-of-the-box, sometimes unorthodox thinking compliments his problem-solving skills but can also get him into trouble with his superiors; although his innovative solutions are what have made him an accomplished Starfleet officer.
Ambition
Darwin has always wanted to command his own ship and has been quite satisfied with his work so far. However, he would like to command his own ship before he is 50, and eventually become the Head of Starfleet Security, and one day in the future the Commander-in-Chief of Starfleet.
