Rieko Pagaloa

The mysterious potential of machines had fascinated Lieutenant Rieko Pagaloa long before he was injured in an engine-room accident as an ensign and more than 60% of his body was replaced by cybernetic augmentations.  While some would blame Pagaloa’s taciturn nature on the accident, Pagaloa would attribute that to his attention-hungry psychologist fathers.  If anything, Pagaloa would describe himself as carefree since his recovery.  He only ever joined Starfleet for the adventure and a laugh.  Since being assigned to the USS Contellation as her chief engineer, Pagaloa has reveled in maintaining Starfleet’s cutting edge engines and the many complexities of the mobile research platform.

Before the engine room accident that changed his life forever, Pagaloa was one who lived in his head.  He could come across as taciturn, but only because his thoughts were elsewhere in his imagination.  He has always been blessed with the ability to see the beauty in everyone and anything, be it a supernova or a self-sealing stem bolt.

Since the accident that he only survived through cybernetic augmentation, Pagaloa has nurtured a leadership style centered on an ability to energize and focus social groupings through adversity.  He possesses the patience and the insights to make any member of his team feel not only special but also feel like the most important person on the team.

So deeply in-tune with his own emotions, and the desires of others, Pagaloa can appear mercurial and scatterbrained if you’re not the object of his attention.
