Leukar Nozadi

The child of a Betazoid refugee, Leukar Nozadi was born in 2375 six months after his mother’s arrival at San Francisco, Earth. Strangers on a new planet, the Betazed embassy assisted the single mother with finding permanent accommodation and employment along with other refugees that had been displaced due to the war. The Betazoid community that flourished in the city as a result of the permanent relocation were not an inward-looking one and Leukar, along with many of the other children, benefited from a rich, multicultural upbringing. It was during his fourth year at elementary school that Leukar’s mother met her future husband; a Starfleet officer assigned to the embassy in which she now worked.

By the time Leukar reached high school, he too had developed a bond with his stepfather whose encouragement and support influenced Leukar’s decision to join his stepsiblings in applying to Starfleet Academy. As a subject matter, Leukar spent the first two years of his studies focused on Engineering, Warp Theory and Advanced Astrophysics, though later decided to diversify his degree by transferring from Advanced Astrophysics to Command and Control.

After graduation in 2397, Leukar accepted a posting aboard Starbase 86 as an Engineering officer where he remained for a year before showing his interest in preparing for and taking the bridge officer examination.
