Summary
Taylor Shan, has been newly assigned to the Parliament-class USS Auckland as a Security/Tactical Officer. Reporting directly to the Command Staff in the absence of a formal Chief Security or Tactical Officer.
Taylor chose this posting as a way to stay close to his home, however with the arrival of a new Captain, Taylor may travel further than he thought he would as they respond to a disease outbreak under priority order.
Will this be the adventure he has deep in his heart strived for, or will this be too much for the new graduate?
Appearance
Taylor has the distinctive dark hair and dark eyes typical of the Betazoid people. He keeps his dark hair trimmed and facial hair well maintained always projecting an air of professionalism when on duty. He stands at roughly 5’9″ and is of average build for his height.
Personality
Taylor is one to keep his circle small enough for close friends. His Betazoid abilities did not treat him nicely in large surroundings. He never lets this interfere with his duties however and is always up for a small social gathering or a quiet night in.
History
Starfleet Academy Year 1: Core General Studies (2397 – 2398)
Taylor entered Starfleet Academy in 2397 pursuing a degree in Applied Sciences with a major in Forensics and Astronautical Tactics. But a degree wasn’t the only thing in his sights. Having grown up on a ranch, Taylor was adept at marksmanship and wanted to further his development with small and medium arms. A keen strategist, he had weighed up the pros and cons and firmly decided Starfleet was the way to go. His first year was taken up mostly by Starfleet’s core curriculum and the studies relevant to his degree. Granted the workload was larger than he anticipated, he enjoyed the challenge. Although studious, he wasn’t one to isolate himself completely. Making friends with many of the other cadets in his graduating class, Taylor did maintain a healthy social life when not hitting the books
Starfleet Academy Year 2: Basic Starship Operations (2398 – 2399)
Entering his second year with Starfleet Academy, Taylor began in course in Basic Starship Operations along side the studies related to Applied Sciences. This intensive course would qualify Taylor for service aboard the bridge armed with a working knowledge of the many bridge stations should the need arise for him to occupy them. Ranging from Communications through to Flight Control and Operations.
Starfleet Academy Year 3: Forensics (2399 – 2400)
Taylors third year was an even split down the middle. Half was devoted to Advanced Starship Operations as part of the academy core curriculum and the remaining half was specialist training in Forensics to keep up with this academic studies.
Starfleet Academy Year 4: Small Arms Tactics Specialization (2400 – 2401)
Taylor’s final year at the Academy was devoted entirely to revising for final exams and a specialist course in Small Arms Tactics. It was some point between his second and third years that he narrowed his career focus on the Security and Tactical divisions. With a view to staying within the Federation borders, Taylor submitted his application for assignment to the Parliament-class USS Auckland upon graduating from the Academy
