Summary
James has always been curious, adventurous, and drawn to push his own boundaries. He is dedicated, proud to serve and truly believes that knowledge is the edge that keeps Starfleet as a power in the Quadrants. Through his work, he hopes to keep working on the exploration of science and discovering new anomalies.
He also seeks to emulate the storied officers of the past. He knows the value of the chain of command, but also knows that among the stars, anyone in the chair has to make quick decisions; and be able to defend them later. To that end he is a student of history, philosophy and tactics.
Appearance
Fair in complexion, with dark thick hair and intelligent chestnut eyes. He carries himself with poise and aplomb, especially when on duty. He prefers to keep himself crisp and clean; his uniform and off duty clothes tailored to suit his lean frame. With the demands of Starfleet he keeps himself trim and fit, spending as much time climbing and sparring holo matches.

History
[Early Life 2370-2388]
James was born on Alpha 3, in the Alpha Canaris system. Born to Sarah and David Miller, he spent much of his childhood hearing about the Dominion War. With her work for the local government, and his father’s work with the industries that helped fuel the war effort, neither answered the call to action. Though proud of the Federation, and eager to instill it’s values in their son, they knew the Homefront was as important as ever. Each cycle the news from the holovids seemed to be increasingly grim, although eventually things worked as the tireless efforts of Starfleet turned the tide.
Drawn to his own world’s history as a Federation Colony, and inspired by the clips of daring and amazing feats of engineering; James was inspired to apply for Starfleet Academy.
[Starfleet Academy 2388-2392]
James was accepted to Starfleet to the delight of both himself and his family. While the adjustment was intense, a small family life replaced with the rigors of the Academy; he loved it. The knowledge and the chance to meet citizens from around the Federation filled his thirst for more, and he began to focus himself with a passion to the Science track.
As his years progressed through the Academy, James began to specialize in Natural Sciences, the possibilities presented by Astronomy, Astrophysics, Cosmology, Mineralogy, Planetology, and Stellar Cartography giving him a window into the never ending discoveries the vessels on the frontlines made.
