Michael Prol

Early Life

Ensign Michael Trejon Prol (December 5, 2376) was born to Trejon Prol and Gabriella Prol née Thomas in Tycho City, Luna where he grew up. Michael’s father, Trejon Prol, was a former military officer aboard the Cardassian Warship Valdora.   He opposed the Union’s alliance with the Dominion and resented both his 12th Order Vorta supervisor and Gul Dukat.

When the Valdora was disabled at the Battle of the Crossroads on March 6, 2374 Trejon was one of several survivors. Rescued by the crew of the USS Denver,  he saw this as an opportunity to help liberate his beloved homeland.

Trejon was sent to Starfleet Intelligence on Earth.  His contact was a human female by the name of Gabriela Thomas.  The two worked closely together providing key intelligence including decrypting Dominion comm traffic.

The pair fell in love and in the spring of 2375 the couple got married.  Gabriel was from Luna and at the end of the war they settled down in Tycho City and began seeking genetic manipulation so that they could have a child. On December 5, 2376 the couple welcomed their only child, Michael.

Growing up on Luna as a half-Cardassian child was not easy for Michael.  For many of his peers he represented the people that had killed their family members, and in some cases even leaving them as orphins.  He had few friends growing up and became isolated.  He studied technical manuals, built model airplanes and ships, and became a voracious reader of the works of Tolkien, T’vral, and Mellik Tal. He was a good student and got A’s and B’s, and graduated 10th out of 586 seniors.

Starfleet Academy (2394-2398)

Micheal Prol entered Starfleet Academy at 18 years of age. He found his classes easy, but interaction with his other cadets including his roommate was difficult. The two struggled as Michael preferred quite nights in studying or reading his roommate consistently skated by doing the bare minimum for classes so he could go to and host parties at every opportunity.  This came to a head at the end of their Freshman year with finals looming and Michael was studying for a Physics exam when his roommate came home intoxicated with a dozen fellow classmates.  The ensuing argument led to blows, a fight that Michael won sending his roommate to the infirmary.  The ensuing fallout led Michael to be placed on disciplinary probation and reassignment to empty quarters for the remainder of the year.

The next three years were uneventful for Michael as he was assigned a roommate that was more compatible. He didn’t make waves at the Academy, and flew under the radar of most of the professors.  His grades were more than adequate especially in the the technical realm but not outstanding.  He never volunteered for any extra curricular activities and in some cases he fell through the cracks and was forgotten.  Something he actually preferred.

The Academy was harder for Michael than high school and he took many advanced engineering, math and science classes which required more work on his part.  As such his grades suffered a little bit, but he did do well we enough to graduate in the top ten percent of his class in 2398. Armed with a degree in Advanced Warp Theory and Structural Engineering he was assigned to the USS Crazy Horse as his first assignment.

The Refit – 2398-2400

Upon graduation Michael had the grades to choose almost any assignment he wanted.  He chose the aging Crazy Horse which was still in drydock receiving a major refit and modernization.  As part of the refit team Michael excelled in the rebuilding of the aging Excelsior class.  He even made a few friends along the way as all the teams shared the same interests in engineering and admiration for the ship they were building up again.

In 2399 and the major refit complete most of the crews went on to other ships, but Michael had found he had grown to love this old ship and opted to remain onboard. The new chief engineer, Lt. Marcus Washington, recognized Michael’s experience and knowledge of the Crazy Horse and made him the assistant chief engineer.  As an engineer he excels at his job, but as a leader he struggles.  Lt. Washington has made it a personal mission to help his assistant to live up to his potential.

Century Storm

In February of 2400 the Crazy Horse was pressed into action by the Fourth Fleet to help with relief operations  from the damage being caused by the massive ion storm dubbed the “Century Storm“. Ordered to evacuate Galina Prime the ship had to make two trips to get everyone off the planet.  With the ship beyond capacity the life-support systems required constant monitoring and Michael worked the same twenty hour shifts as Marcus.

When the Away Team was stranded on Galina Prime, Michael found himself in charge of engineering for the first time with Marcus stepping in as the ship’s acting first officer. He struggled throughout the assignment, especially at first. With some coaching from Marcus and a little help they were able to hold the ship together as it was battered by the Ion storm.  Michael had made great progress in his leadership skills and it was recognized by acting captain Erin Hayden.

Blood Dilithium

The Crazy Horse was sent to the Delta Quadrant during the explosion of Blood Dilithium.   Chief Engineer Washington was assigned to a moon named Eden to supervise the mining of the blood dilithium leaving Prol in charge of engineering.

The Crazy Horse would eventually be nearly destroyed by the Devore in response to Captain Murphy ordering the destruction of the blood dilithium.  The crew was rescued by the USS MacKenzie.

Outpost Houtman

Following the events of the Blood Dilithium Prol was reassigned to Outpost Houtman as the Assistant Chief Engineer.
