As the archeology team continued their dig on Je’lon IV, their initial discoveries of what appeared to be human artifacts dating back 2000 years stirred excitement among the crew, including Commander Nicholas James Halstead, the Executive Officer of the USS Crazy Horse. However, Chief Science Officer Shrin, a seasoned archaeologist, was cautious not to jump to conclusions, attributing the findings to mere coincidence until further evidence could be uncovered.

Despite the initial skepticism, the team’s efforts led to the discovery of a truly enigmatic artifact that captured everyone’s attention. The object took the form of a dodecahedron, a complex geometric shape with ancient writing adorning at least three of its exposed sides. What set this particular artifact apart was the face located at the top, which held a recessed panel pulsing with a mysterious glowing blue light.

Intrigued by the artifact’s peculiar nature, Chief Science Officer Shrin knew that they had stumbled upon something of great significance. The age of the site and the unmistakable human elements of the artifacts left the team grappling with questions about the possible connection between ancient humans and the distant planet of Je’lon IV.

Lieutenant Commander Erin Hayden and Chief Science Officer Shrin attempt to translate the ancient writing on the artifact but find nonsensical results. Erin decides to try one last translation matrix and successfully identifies it as a celestial navigation map for Earth. Ensign Arthur Talon confirms the connection, pointing out familiar constellations. Erin suggests a language tie-in and the computer identifies matches to ancient Brythonic languages. The translation reveals a reference to King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, suggesting a belief in transporters as magical time machines. Erin proposes the artifact might utilize tachyons, leading them to main engineering, where they prepare to test the artifact with a tachyon pulse using a makeshift deflector array.

Commander Nicholas Halstead and Captain Aoife Mckenzie discuss the breakthrough made by Commander Hayden and the translated text. Nicholas shows little interest, preferring tangible exploration over ancient artifacts. However, Aoife highlights the importance of understanding new cultures, a core mission of Starfleet. They enter engineering, where Shrin adjusts the beam targetin

g the artifact. Chroniton particles build up, reaching critical mass, and the artifact opens, emitting a bright light. When Aoife regains consciousness, she finds herself in an open field with Nicholas nearby. Their communicators fail to establish a connection with their ship. They assess their surroundings, realizing they are in a pre-industrial culture. Cautioning the need to preserve the Prime Directive and avoid alarming the locals, they decide to proceed cautiously. Aoife suggests blending in with the aliens while trying to find a way home, acknowledging the limitations of adhering strictly to the Prime Directive in this situation. They set off toward the nearby village, determined to navigate this unfamiliar world and find a path back to their own.

Aoife and Halstead find themselves on a planet they come to identify as Avalon. They establish themselves as a married couple and Aoife begins teaching school to the locals while Halstead becomes the village blacksmith. After over a year the crew of the Crazy Horse still searching for them and Shrin sends a tachyon emitter to them which  is found in a field by a villager. Aoife pays a steep price if a plow shear for it and brings it back home.

While manipulating the device a girl from Aoife’s class witnesses them and reports their activity where the local Bishop interprets as heresy and witchcraft. The pair was arrested and held in a smoke shed until they were rescued by Alexander Black a disgraced cleric who believes in the old legends of Merlin and King Author. Feeling compelled to help them Black helps the pair find an artifact like the original one on Je’lon IV to get home. It is during these events Nicholas expresses his feelings for Aoife. She shared his feelings, but ultimately chose her career and rejected Nicholas’ advances.

Valhalla Squadron

Shrin now serving aboard the USS Watership she had kept the Je’lon IV artifact.  Being linked when Aoife and Nicholas activated the Avalon artifact to their surprise, they found themselves aboard the USS Watership in December of 2400, over a year after their sudden disappearance. The crew of the Watership welcomed them warmly, and it didn’t take long for Aoife and Nicholas to share their incredible journey and experiences.

Nicholas, now reunited with his son James, took a two-month leave to spend quality time with him on Earth. James was thrilled to have his father back and eagerly shared his experiences at Starfleet Academy. The father and son bond grew even stronger during this time, and Nicholas couldn’t be prouder of his son’s accomplishments and dedication to his studies.

Together, they forged a close alliance, exchanging expertise, sharing resources, and coordinating their efforts to maximize their effectiveness against the Dominion Lost fleet.

The Valhalla Squadron underwent intensive training exercises, refining their coordination and teamwork, and developing innovative strategies to counter the Dominion Lost fleet’s advanced weaponry and unpredictable tactics. They studied the enemy’s patterns and vulnerabilities, seeking any advantage they could exploit.

As the Dominion and Breen forces moved to seize Arkan II, a human colony styled in ancient Norse culture, the situation grew dire. Cut off from assistance from the 4th Fleet and with a lack of trust in Starfleet’s overall reliability, Captain McKenzie and Captain Murphy knew they needed to call in outside favors to bolster their defense.

Captain McKenzie reached out to her former captain, retired Admiral Rebecca Talon, who had earned her respect during their past service together. Although unable to provide direct assistance, Admiral Talon promised to explore any avenues available to aid their cause. Her experience and connections within Starfleet Command proved invaluable.

Captain Murphy tapped into her Klingon connections, specifically Commander Hur’agah from the House of Lu’poq. Orlaith’s past encounters with the Klingon commander had fostered a bond of trust and camaraderie. Commander Hur’agah, recognizing the urgency of the situation, vowed to join the fight with his eight ships, bringing the might of the Klingon Empire to the battlefield.

Additionally, the USS Sojourner, commanded by Commander Kiirin Tarkin, was brought into the fold. Orlaith had previously encountered Commander Tarkin during the ill-fated Blood Dilithium mission in the Delta Quadrant, forging a mutual respect and understanding. The USS Sojourner added its firepower and strategic expertise to the growing alliance.

Recognizing that a direct confrontation with the Dominion and Breen forces would be difficult, if not impossible, Aoife and Orlaith devised a plan to evacuate as many people as possible from Arkan II before an orbital bombardment to extract the resource. Their priority was to ensure the safety of the colonists and minimize casualties.

In a crucial turn of events, a fleet of aging Romulan ships arrived unexpectedly, led by Governor Tomarah, who had fought alongside Admiral Talon during the Dominion War. Governor Tomarah’s forces aligned with the Valhalla Squadron and the Klingon ships, forming a formidable alliance against the Dominion and Breen onslaught.

The combined might of the Valhalla Squadron, the House of Lu’poq, the USS Sojourner, and the Romulan fleet turned the tide of the battle. Their strategic maneuvers, coordinated attacks, and unwavering resolve shattered the Dominion and Breen fleet’s hopes of capturing Arkan II.

Governor Tomarah’s forces, seasoned from their battles in the Dominion War, proved instrumental in neutralizing the enemy’s advances. With their support, the colony of Arkan II was saved from imminent destruction, and the Dominion’s plan to control the planet and acquire the raw materials for manufacturing ketracel-white was thwarted.

The victory served as a testament to the power of alliances and the resilience of those fighting against overwhelming odds. The Valhalla Squadron, bolstered by their external connections, demonstrated the strength and determination of Starfleet officers and their allies in the face of adversity.

The people of Arkan II, rescued from the brink of disaster, were grateful for the valor and sacrifices made by the Valhalla Squadron, the House of Lu’poq, the USS Sojourner, and the Romulan fleet. Their unity and bravery ensured that the ancient Norse-inspired colony would continue to thrive in peace, free from Dominion control.
