Summary
Lewis Forester is currently assigned to the California class USS Encinitas on his midshipman cruise and then from there awaiting his assignment in the fleet. His cruise was delayed to the end of his fourth year and he is now eager to get started.
Appearance
Lewis stands at 1.83 metres, with a slightly toned build principally from his time in the Academy. He has a finely kept trimmed beard but never goes much above stubble length. He keeps his hair short but styled with precision. His typical clothing style is non remarkable bar from his uniforms which are always smooth with clean contours almost as if it was tailored.
Personality
He is as far from the average young Starfleet cadet with an inflated ego as you can possibly be, smart and relatively quick on his feet but often out of his depth in most social situations post frontier day, his social circle was once quite large but has since dwindled to a handful of strong bonded friends. His drive to improve himself through any and whatever opportunities are presented to him often leads him to push himself outside of any social comfort zones he would normally adhere to.
History
Early Life
Born in 2380, in the middle of increasingly turbulent times for the Federation, although in many of which he wasn’t able to grasp the full ramifications of in his early years. Growing up in the safety of Lunar he was able to enjoy the perks of life at the centre of the UFP. His parents both enjoyed this life for their son, both having grown up on a colony world not far from the McAllister Nebula and the Cardassian border with all the turmoil that entailed. Even though he was only five years old, he saw the impact of first contact day in 2385 with the near death of his father who was a civilian engineer at Utopia Planitia, although he survived initially he suffered catastrophic injuries of which he died three years later from complications.
The attack and death of his father left Forester distraught and led to troubled early teenage years only being knocked out of his ways on the eve of his fifteenth birthday by his mother. From this he attended counselling, mainly to appease his mother but ultimately it was this that ended his downward spiral and his grades that had taken a nose dive, especially in the year beforehand, recovered and allowed him to gain entry into his school’s preparatory program for Starfleet Academy.
Starfleet Academy
Forester’s time at the San Francisco campus was not without its fair share of ups and downs, in his first year he struggled to form any serious bonds or friendships and in the second having found a small group of friends struggled academically all of which paled in comparison to the events of Frontier Day. After lengthy counselling sessions, he returned to his studies alongside the vast majority of his fellow cadets and within his third and fourth years he was able to settle into the academy as well as getting acquainted with what being in Starfleet was really about. Although he has yet to technically graduate from the academy, an unfortunate game of parrises squares left him injured and hospitalised when his classmates undertook their own midshipman cruises leaving him to complete his at the end of his time at the academy.
USS Encinitas
Forester joined the Encinitas in the middle of 2403 on a delayed midshipman cruise due to an injury sustained in the Academy. Even though he has completed all of his studies required the only thing holding him back from his commission is this required portion of his practical training, one of the few things he holds a grudge against as all his classmates received their first official postings he was one of the few held back. Despite all this he is looking forward to his first ship experience and everything it will teach him.
