Personality
Elara joined with the Tor symbiont shortly after joining Starfleet, following the previous host being killed during the Frontier Day incident in 2401. She had a slight rebellious streak before and the joining enhanced this but not to the detriment of her service. She is intelligent, poised, emotionally layered and has an old soul beneath her youthful appearance.
She has a quiet confidence that makes others trust her judgement even before they fully understand why. That trust often comes from something deeper than her rank or experience. It comes from her having lived far longer than she appears. While her appearance is that of someone in their 20s, Elara Tor now has 300 years of memories which had adapted her personality but also enhanced her abilities. Having several lifetimes worth of memories, she has become a go-to for both her peers, superiors and juniors. Whether someone needs tactical, romantic or political advice, she is an ear and an advisor to all. However, Elara rarely allows herself the same vulnerability she offers others. She is used to being the steady presence which can make it difficult to ask others for help.
Before the joining, Elara already had a tendency to question authority, not out of arrogance but out of a genuine desire why things are done a particular way. The Tor symbiont didn’t erase or change this, it refined it. Where once she may have pushed boundaries impulsively, she now chooses her moments carefully. She still challenges, but with patience and fully aware of the consequences of doing so.
Internally, she has a tapestry of emotions and personalities. Three centuries of lived experiences don’t sit neatly together. They sometimes conflict. There are moments when she feels centred, able to draw on the insight of pervious hosts. But there are also moments where she feels the echo of lives around her that are not her own. She doesn’t fear the restless undercurrent that this creates but she is deeply aware of it.
Socially she can sometimes shift between the young Starfleet Officer that she is and someone far older. In a relaxed setting, her youthful curiosity and dry wit surface easily and she enjoys conversation, humour and a touch of mischief. But in moments of tension there is a marked change: her tone sharpens, her posture stills and she speaks with the authority of someone who has seen centuries of conflict and consequence.
Hobbies and Interests
Elara’s interests reflect the balance between her youth and the centuries she carries. She has a fondness for classical music and literature from across the Federation. Often revisiting works remembered by previous hosts. At the same time she enjoys more modern pursuits: Holodeck simulations of in atmosphere flight and she journals privately to process her own thoughts separately to the hosts who came before.
