History
Keymor was born in 2376 as the Cardassian people began to rebuild following their loss in the Dominion war. Raised in hardship, he watched his young parents attempt to make sense of their own identities during reconstruction. During his early years, Keymor grew up with the Federation as friends and allies – visiting Federation hospitals and food banks. In 2385, at the age of 9, he watched as the Federation abandoned Cardassia and witnessed the immediate decline in the quality of life.
His parents never shied away from discussing current events with their son, and did their best to explain the conflicts between the Detapa Council and Central Command, as well as The Third War in ways that Keymor could understand. His father, disabled and never able to serve in the military, was particularly fond of the Detapa Council and their reforms. His mother, the daughter of generations of Union officers, was more sympathetic to the military officers.
In 2394 – at the age of 18 – Keymor enlisted with the Cardassian military, motivated to bring a new generational viewpoint to his family’s tradition of service. He saw early deployment in the Union’s annexation of bordering planets in violation of the Treaty of Bajor, earning praise for being a quick witted and competent soldier. He saw engagement soon afterwards in Cardassian efforts against the True Way. In an act of heroism and great skill, Keymor saved many lives in a True Way attack and was offered admission into the Union’s officer training program. He graduated and split his time between field deployments and working in the liaison office that coordinated Federation-Cardassian intelligence as it related to the True Way and reborn Maquis.
During the Blackout phenomenon, Keymor was again tagged to work in the liaison offices between the Federation and Cardassian Union, earning the respect of officers on both sides. He would continue to serve valiantly.
In 2406, his stellar service record and history of dealings with both Cardassian and Federation government officials made him the perfect candidate for a new attempt at Union-Starfleet exchange and he was assigned to the USS Gilroy.
