Taris Saeihr

Taris Saeihr is a member of the Romulan Republic Navy, a Major, currently serving as an Intelligence Officer assigned to joint operations with Starfleet.

Highly perceptive and instinct driven, she specialises in threat analysis, counter intelligence and strategy. Known for her sharp insight, she provides a critical edge in uncertain situations and ensures the Republic’s ideals are protected with clear eyed realism.

If you ask someone about Taris Saeihr, you’ll get a very different answer depending on who you ask. That alone tells you a great deal about her. Taris Saeihr is sharp perceptive and undeniably intelligent, but there is always a sense that she is holding something back, not just information but intent. People tend to trust her judgement, even when they’re not entirely sure they trust her.

She is, in many ways, a product of the old Romulan Star Empire’s way of thinking, refined rather than rejected. Taris believes information is power, and power is best wielded quietly. She is comfortable working in grey areas, working through interference, deception and half truths if that is what the situation demands. Taris thrives in complexity, she doesn’t need complete information to act and she’s often already moving before others have finished analysing. To her, hesitation is a greater risk than being partially wrong.

Beneath all of this, her loyalty to the Republic Navy is genuine and fiercely held. She doesn’t believe the Republic survives by abandoning what it was, she believes it survives by mastering it. Where others  see the Republic as a departure from the past, Taris sees it as an evolution. The old Empire’s instincts, secrecy, strategy and adaptability are not weaknesses in her eyes, but essential tools that must be retained if the Republic is to endure in a hostile galaxy.

Taris can be surprisingly direct, occasionally even disarming. She has a dry, almost cutting wit and she isn’t above using it to test people, particularly Starfleet. She enjoys probing boundaries, observing reactions and seeing how far trust can be stretched before it breaks. Despite this, she is not needlessly antagonistic, she seems to treat every interaction as a form of intelligence gathering. You’re never entirely sure whether you’re speaking to her casually or being assessed.

At her core, she is someone who believes survival depends on understanding the game being played, even when others are pretending there isn’t one. She respects the Republics ideals, but she does not romanticise them. When one would build bridges, she studies what may burn them.
