Summary
Anastasia Black is the temperamental, but well-meaning, mistress of the starship Canopus‘ engines and essential systems. She does not subscribe to the ‘miracle worker’ mystique of so many other engineers, preferring brutal honesty in her estimates. She is, however, supremely confident in her department’s capabilities and is happy to put them against the universe at any time.
