Thorne appears younger then most people expect from a Starfleet Commander, something she has spent most of her career trying to overcome. She’s athletic and quick moving, often seeming unable to sit for long periods of time. She speaks quickly, and moves even quickers; often appearing to be several steps ahead of everyone around her.
Her uniform is neat, but rarely perfect and she has a habit of rolling up her sleeves. Often carrying a large stack of padds, she’s knows for appearing in any department without notice to see how things are going. She is always on the move.
Personality
Sara is ambitious, sharp and fearless. She often makes her Commanding Officer very nervous. She thrives on uncertainty and is at her best when things are moving fast, and there is no time for the perfect answer. She is charismatic, approachable, and popular with the Junior Officers. She remembers what is was like to be overlooked and goes out of her way to support the more junior crew.
She can be impatient, impulsive, and willing to put herself in danger. She’s pushes boundaries, argues with Senior Staff, and has a tendency to leap into situations before considering the outcome. At her worse, she has a habit of mistaking confidence for certainity.

Frontier Day
The events of Frontier Day dramatically change the path of Thorne’s career.
The devastating attack left many ships without experienced senior officers. After the Copperhead’s Executive Officer was killed, Thorne found herself given an emergency field promotion and assigned to assist in gaining control of the ship. In the months at followed Captain Parker officially promoted Thorne to Execute Officer.
Though young and inexperienced, her record of leadership under pressure made her a natural candidate. She was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and assigned to the USS Tesla under Commander Rourke in 2403.
USS Tesla
Commander Thorne was selected for the Tesla specifically because Starfleet felt she could balance out Commander Rourke’s personality and leadership. Their hope is that together they could become a highly effective team. Thorne often pushes Rourke and Rourke has taught Thorne to slow down and think.
