Sira Velan

Early Life

Sira Velan was born in the Leran Province on Trill, a region known for its academic institutions and its close association with the Trill Symbiosis Commission. Though not part of a host family traditionally expected to pursue joining, Velan grew up in a society where scholarship, and service were deeply valued.

Her parents were both educators. Her mother, Tirena Velan, taught planetary economics, while her father, Mar Velan, served as a transport systems analyst responsible for coordinating regional trade infrastructure. From an early age, Sira was surrounded by discussions about systems efficiency, resource allocation, and interplanetary logistics, concepts that fascinated her.

Unlike many young Trill who aspired to join the Symbiosis program, Velan quickly realized her talents lay elsewhere. She demonstrated an early aptitude for organization and planning, often helping coordinate community transport schedules and resource shipments for regional development programs. Her ability to analyze complex logistical problems earned her recognition among local academic programs, and by the time she completed secondary schooling, Starfleet recruiters had already taken notice.

Starfleet Academy

Velan entered Starfleet Academy in 2382, choosing the Operations and Logistics track, an area of study focused on fleet coordination, resource management, and mission support. At the Academy she distinguished herself as a meticulous planner, highly efficient systems organizer, and  a calm decision-maker.

Her instructors frequently noted that Velan possessed the rare ability to anticipate logistical complications before they occurred. Velan graduated with honors in 2386.
