Thraz is outspoken and well-disciplined.
He is a leader who expects his crew to give loyalty, respect, and pride. Crew safety is his primary concern, and he offers the crew unwavering loyalty when they are threatened. Off duty, Thraz is quieter, more introspective, and prone to observing rather than engaging. However, people find a surprisingly warm, dry sense of humour under his thick, icy skin. His Andorian upbringing instilled in him a strong respect for duty and resilience.
History
Early Life (2373–2391)
Born on the ice-bound Kaleth Basin on Andoria in the year 2373, Thraz sh’Kalev grew up surrounded by the disciplined traditions of a clan with deep military roots. His mother served in Starfleet, while his father served in the Andorian Defence Force. The household was run to military standards. He was born to join either the Andorian Defence Force or Starfleet. He chose Starfleet, following in his mother’s footsteps. Growing up, he was a popular child with many friends who also aspired to join Starfleet.
Starfleet Academy – Earth (2391-2397)
At eighteen, Thraz enlisted in Starfleet Academy, joining the Enlisted Officer Program. Theory work was not Thraz’s strong point, but tactical analysis and survival training came naturally.
Academy instructors noted his unwavering composure and blunt honesty, as well as his ability to keep a team calm during near-disastrous training exercises. These traits would later define his command style.
He graduated in 2397 and was commissioned as an Ensign.
USS Portage (2397–2399)
Thraz’s first posting was aboard the USS Portage, performing humanitarian logistics, border patrol, and colony support. His roles included security and tactical coverage, evacuation assistance, and stabilisation missions on frontier worlds.
During this time, the Archanis Sector raids, rogue Romulan factions, and rising border instability left a strong impression on him.
USS Shran (2399–2401)
Promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade in 2399, Thraz transferred to the Andorian-crewed USS Shran. This assignment aligned perfectly with his cultural background and gave him broader leadership responsibilities. Aboard the Shran, he led ground teams on relief missions and took on regular gamma-shift bridge commands.
He earned promotion to full Lieutenant in 2401 for his calm handling of a high-risk civilian extraction under fire.
USS Ursa Major (2401–2403)
Thraz transferred to the USS Ursa Major as Assistant Chief of Security, where he participated in heightened border operations connected to Romulan fragmentation and Klingon separatist activities.
He completed his command qualification in early 2402 and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander shortly afterwards and to the position of Chief Security Officer.
Commanding Officer, USS Oroville (2403–Present)
In 2403, with Starfleet stabilising after multiple galactic crises, Thraz was promoted to Commander and entrusted with his first command: the USS Oroville, a California-class vessel assigned to Task Force 93.
