Bridgette “Betty” Walker is the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Gilroy. She is a playful, older woman who enjoys bonding with her medical staff and fellow crewmates through drink, song, and game. She would describe herself as loud, a bit messy, and very good at her job. Her direct reports would describe her as extremely competent – but late to anything that isn’t too serious.

Betty is a short woman, roughly 5’5, and keeps lean through aggressive tennis play.

In her late 50’s, Betty has devoted herself to medical service and has a long list of missions supporting refugees and humanitarian intervention under her belt. She doesn’t hesitate to pull ‘rank’ from experience over those with more pips if the moment calls for it.

Betty is a short, older (50’s) female human with graying hair (often kept up in a bun), with the practiced body of someone who plays too much tennis. She is dark skinned with bright, brown eyes that she never hesitates to bat to get her way.

Betty is a bright, charismatic doctor who cares deeply for her patients and helping others. Outside of her profession she doesn’t take life too seriously – often showing up late, cracking inappropriate jokes, and taking risks for the fun of it.

She stopped caring about gaining rank years ago, and prefers to blend the worlds of casual and professional with her direct superiors. She never hesitates to share her opinion or to disagree with others, and from time to time she can come off as a bit too dismissive.

She enjoys a good time – especially with friends – and can often be found socializing in the mess, the holodeck, or on shore leave with anyone she can trap into joining her.

Bridgette Walker grew up in Haiti on Earth, but knew from a young age that she was destined for the stars. At school she developed a passion for biology and the sciences, but was also deeply involved in debate and political affairs. She became invested in galactic affairs – including the humanitarian crises with Bajor and the Federation-Cardassian border colonies.

Choosing to combine her passions, Bridgette applied and was accepted into Starfleet Academy where she joined the medical track. She began a specialization in trauma and emergency medicine and made her intent to be on the front lines of humanitarian disasters clear to her instructors.

Her early deployments brought her to the front of the Dominion War where she gained immediate experience supporting hospital efforts on planets involved in active combat. She even severed as a combat medic for a a brief time, where she fully established her passion for emergency and trauma medicine. She spent limited time on ships, serving a total of 1-year as a medical officer on a Galaxy class starship. She found the experience on a ship – even one at war – too calming, and requested a transfer back to the front lines. After the liberation of Betazed, she spent time supporting recovery efforts. Eventually after the war, she was selected to participate in a medical exchange program on Cardassia Prime where her trauma experience was further developed in supporting nearly destroyed communities rebuild. Wanting to say close to the aftermath of the war, she then took up a post on Bajor where she met her future wife.

For a time Bridgette considered going the command route to helm her own medical ship. Unfortunately, the life felt too serious and she gave up those pursuits to focus fully on medical experience. After getting married, Bridgette transferred to Starbase 12 with her new wife. Bridgette helped her raise her children (from a first marriage), and spent nearly two decades in the same station in various medical positions.

It was in this station that she met her future Captain, Jericho sands, and two quickly established a mentorship and friendship.

With her children grown, Bridgette wished for a change and was granted a transfer to chief medical officer abord the USS Gilroy.
