Summary
Dr Clinton Harriman is a leading voice in the scientific field of Theoretical Sciences, that rarified branch of Starfleet Science Division that is ever seeking to explore, discover, delve and understand the nature of new and hitherto unknown scientific devices and phenomena.
Avowedly unconcerned with rank and promotion, Dr Harriman could have enjoyed considerable career advancement – but knows that this would end his tenure in the field and tie him to the more desk – bound aspects of scientific research, hence he has steadfastly endeavored to stay a Lieutenant for a considerable tenure.
A posting aboard a Prometheus – class vessel promises to expose this voraciously – curious scientist to exactly the types of unknown mysteries of the universe that he s craves to encounter, so he is happy with his lot.
Appearance
Clinton Harriman is an Englishman, who has just entered his 40th year, of Caribbean descent.
He has short – cut hair and a neatly – kempt beard that is beginning to show traces of premature greying.
He wears his uniform neatly and his posture is easy and open.
Personality
Dr Harriman is highly intelligent and intensely inquisitive, finding great joy and equilibrium in his place within the universe.
He displays an affable and engaging manner, well at ease with shipboard life and content to manage his small science team.
He is an able cook and raconteur and likes to entertain his fellow officers with dinner and conversation, when the opportunity presents. Able to put people at ease with intelligent and likely conversation, he is both engaging and affable.
The one thing Clinton cannot abide is willful ignorance or those who would deliberately block & deny scientific discovery and progress or seek to destroy that what is unique in the universe.
History
Formerly a tenured research fellow at the Daystrom Institute’s Okinawa Campus, Dr Clinton Harriman entered Starfleet as a direct – entry mature – age candidate and graduated Starfleet Academy as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) in 2392 AD, assigned to shipboard duty aboard the Vesta – class Long – Range Explorer, USS Caledonia – for a 5 year long – range Science Mission to the Gamma Quadrant.
Upon his return and the successful publishing of several well – received scientific Trieste’s and research papers, Dr Harriman embarked upon a further 3 year research – cruise aboard the Sagan – class Light – explorer, USS Hathaway – this time travelling to the Delta Quadrant for a shorter mission of a 3 year duration.
Ever seeking the opportunity to be on the frontline of scientific discovery, Dr Harriman joined the crew of the USS Athena, correctly predicting that service aboard the Prometheus – class would afford the chance to explore strange new worlds and be the next to explore the great unknown.
