Summary
A vessel as complex as the Prometheus class requires an Engineer as equally complex as Lieutenant Commander Anaxia Werann.
The Polyamorous Bolian Chief Engineer comes from a culture that reveres Warp – field technology, believing it promotes fertility and indeed Anaxia bore her own child to term whilst working in main engineering (before handing the child over to the care of her Co – Wife and Husband to raise, whilst she continued her career).
Highly focused when it comes to all matters engineering, Anaxia is also highly irritated when her work is interrupted and the complex systems aboard ship require constant finessing and adjustment – which makers the cantankerous Bolian engineer secretly very happy.
Appearance
A Bolian female in her Mid – thirties and of average height and build – like all of her people Anaxia has bright – blue skin and a distinctive raised ridge that runs vertically down her bald – head, neatly bisecting her features.
Whilst in uniform or without, her appearance always seems slightly rumpled – the necessary state of affairs for a woman that spends a great deal of time crawling around in Jefferies – tubes and getting her hands dirty (as any good hand – on engineer should).
Personality
Anaxia seems permanently distracted and finds it hard to focus on matters that are not directly related to engineering issues and the smooth running of the ship’s systems. Outside of these matters she seems to care little about the wider duties of being a Starfleet officer – but is passionately committed to passing on her knowledge and acumen to her engineering team – so they tend to pick up the shortfall and form a cohesive, tight – knit community onboard.
History
Graduating Starfleet Academy on Mellstoxx IX in 2388 AD, Ensign Anaxia Werann was overjoyed to be posted to the Engineering team aboard the aging USS Kepler. For an engineer, the relative lack of automation aboard the venerable Nebula – class Explorer, meant that Anaxia was able to engage in the kind of hands – on problem solving that a born – engineer craves.
Advancing to the rank of Lieutenant (Jg), Anaxia went on to cut her teeth upon the systems of the USS Janaran, a ‘Block – 1’ Inquiry – class Exploratory cruiser, serving as a member of the Engineering team and getting to know one of the most ubiquitous designs in the Starfleet – arsenal intimately.
Seeking her next challenge, promotion to the rank of Lieutenant gave Anaxia the chance to transfer aboard the USS Khitomer, an Alita – class Heavy Cruiser, that also afforded the opportunity to become more conversant in flight deck operations and smallcraft maintenance.
The career opportunity of a lifetime beckoned when she secured a position aboard the Vesta – class Long – range Exploratory vessel, USS Ceres – joining the ship’s crew as Assistant Chief Engineer and exposing herself to work with some of the most cutting – edge propulsion and secondary – systems design available to Starfleet as the ship embarked upon a 3 – year deep – space mission to the Delta Quadrant.
Returning to duty in the Alpha Quadrant, the opportunity arose to join the Prometheus – class, USS Athena – whilst the vessel was laid over in the Staryards at Starbase 72, undergoing extensive refit & refurbishment works as part of its maintenance life – cycle. In her first Chief Engineering role, the opportunity to work with the complicated systems aboard such a rarified vessel, presented a career – step and a challenge too enticing for Anaxia to pass up.
