Summary
The Saurian Kottu, is assigned to service aboard the USS Astute as the vessel’s Executive Officer.
An imposing presence on the bridge, his robust officer with an equally robust sense of humor has an intuitive grasp on the capabilities of both the ship and it’s crew.
Whilst authoritarian on duty, off duty Kottu does well in the company of others and seems to have a natural and easy grasp on the motivations and social – requirements of all aboard ship.
Subsequently, Kottu is well respected and well liked as a Senior – officer.
Appearance
Tall and broad, standing some 6 feet tall with pinkish/purple skin, Kottu has the distinctive reptilian features typical to the Saurian people, with a wide mouth and large black eyes.
Immensely strong and robust, due to his four – hearts, Kottu also has the acute sense of smell thanks to six nasal canals and distinctive ridgelines on his head – a feature as unique as fingerprints to a Saurian.
A by – the – book officer, everything about Kottu’s appearance conforms with the Starfleet Dress – Code and comportment and he expects the officers below him to show the same dedication to detail and duty.
Personality
A Saurian with a sense of humor as robust as his physical resilience, Kottu possesses an equally unflappable confidence and its a keen observer of people and behavior.
A former operations officer, before transferring to the command career – track, Kottu is highly organized and knows the value that attention to detail brings – when applied to the command of a starship and the effective deployment of its people.
Even – handed and even – tempered, you know where you stand with Kottu and whilst he does not suffer fools gladly, these qualities make him a popular choice for the role of Executive Officer.
History
Spawned from a clutch in the equatorial Gliomas – habitat on Sauria, Kottu was raised in a loving collective with a strong emphasis on community – responsibility and group cohesion.
These qualities stood the young Saurian in good stead, when he was accepted into Starfleet Academy’s San Francisco Campus, where he studied Operations and Applied Logistics – his keen eye for detail and natural skills as an organizer seeing him opt to study within the Starfleet Operations Division training faculty.
Graduating as an Ensign in 2391 AD, Kottu was initially assigned as an Assistant Operations Officer aboard the Task Force 72 Flagship, the Excelsior II – class USS K’Ehleyr. Shipboard life suited Kottu well and he thrived in the busy communal life that service on a larger – starship brings.
In 2395, Kottu was promoted to full – Lieutenant and transferred to duty aboard the venerable Ambassador – class Emissary, the USS Soval. Serving as Chief Operations Officer, Kottu benefitted from the expanded worldview serving aboard a vessel dedicated to peace and diplomacy brought with it and in time – decided that he would take the command – track and began to study for his Command – grade competencies whilst still aboard.
In 2400, now a Commander – Kottu was assigned to duty as the Executive Officer board the Echelon – class Light Cruiser, USS Astute.
