Aida James

Early Life

Aida was born in space, aboard the trading vessel Againcort (which should have been the Agincourt, but her grandfather mis-spelled the ship when he registered it, something her grandmother never let him live down), to Mira James and never knew her father.

Brought up on the ‘Cort, Aida could fly the ageing trading ship before she hit her teens. She was a bright child who excelled in her lessons aboard ship which were, while a little eclectic, mostly followed the general curriculum for education in the Federation.

Thanks to the nomadic nature of trading ships, she was exposed to many different cultures and experiences from the many stops on the ships route. When she was twelve, she encountered some starfleet personnel on one such stop and that was that. From that moment on, she set her sights on joining Starfleet.

Starfleet Academy

Unfortunately, things were not plain sailing for Aida with the Academy. Using to being on the move all the time, she struggled with the static nature of Academy life, seeing the same views of the window all the time, and at first struggled to make friends, even though she was normally very quick to make connections with people. A lot of that was down to the fact she’d grown up and been educated surrounded by adults, so struggled to interact with people of a similar age. However, a few weeks in, she made firm friends with another cadet facing similar struggles. From then on, sure that at least one person had her back, Aida settled down and focused on her studies.

Her time at the Academy was largely uneventful. Until her cadet cruise. Until Frontier day. Aida was among the large number of starfleet personnel who were assimilated and she still has occasional nightmares as a result. This has not stopped her desire to pursue a career in Starfleet and on graduation the Academy she was assigned to the USS Resolute.
