Summary

Commander Jean-Marc Pasquier serves as the Chief Science Officer aboard the USS Hikaru Sulu and is a prodigious multi – discipline generalist with a particular flair for organisation – that makes him the perfect choice to head up both the Science Department onboard and the numerous visiting science teams that pass through the mighty Odyssey-class Heavy Explorer.

Intensely intelligent and passionate about the potential of science and discovery, this erudite Frenchman is well liked by those that serve under him and likes nothing more than a mystery to be solved.

Appearance

A handsome, stylish and well-presented Frenchman, standing 6 feet tall and athletic in build, Jean – Marc has close – cropped hair (he started to turn to balding even at the Academy), a neatly – barbered beard and intelligent brown – eyes that convey a certain sense of sadness.

Personality

Jean – Marc has a certain sense of melancholy that some put down to his gallic – heritage but stems from lingering grief for the untimely death of his husband – he has not entered into a relationship since his bereavement.

The subject of scientific discovery or mystery can instantly transform this passionate scientist, with his joy and passion becoming infectious for others around him – he lives to expand both his understanding of the universe and that of others.

Marc is an avid adherent of Jazz – music (a passion Declan did not share)and is a talented jazz – trumpet player, who enjoys immersing himself playing with some of the greats in Holodeck Simulations.

History

Jean-Marc Pasquier was born in Angouleme, in Western – France in 2361, with both of his parents formerly serving in Starfleet. As a child, Jean-Marc accompanied them aboard the Raven-class corvette, USS Erasmus – on loan from Starfleet as the continued their tenure as civilian scientists, exploring the furthest reaches of the Gamma Quadrant via the wormhole.

Small wonder then, that Jean-Marc entered into the Sciences Training Faculty when he joined Starfleet Academy in 2377, studying at the Mellstoxx III campus – where he showed great promise in the fields of Xeno – Biology & Applied Genetics.

Starfleet Academy was also the place where he met the man that he would eventually marry, Declan Rubens – a Conceptual Planetologist. The pair graduated the Academy together in 2381 and were both assigned to shipboard duty aboard the Galaxy – Class Exploratory Cruiser, USS Madison – where they served for nine years before the untimely death of Declan during an away – team mission.

Heartbroken, Jean-Marc applied for a transfer to the USS – Selene, a Lamar-class Long Range Explorer deployed on a 5-year deep – space exploratory mission to the Delta Quadrant – hoping to elude his grief and find new meaning amongst unfamiliar stars.

Returning to the Alpha Quadrant in 2395, Jean – Marc (now a Commander) was appointed as the Chief Science Officer aboard the Luna-class light explorer, USS Callisto, where he served in this capacity before transferring aboard the USS Hikaru Sulu. With his eye on eventual command of his own Science vessel, Jean Marc has taken the Command College examination and also serves as the Second Officer.
