Revek

Revek is a young, eager officer fresh out of the Academy.  He serves as the USS Fresno’s Communications Officer.  While he has taken all of the requisite linguistics courses, the primary reason for his selection aboard the Fresno is more of a technical one. Revek possesses intricate knowledge of how specialized communications equipment is designed and operated.  This focus stems from a childhood hobby of building and tinkering with simple subspace gear in order to talk with passing ships within a limited range, similar in concept to the idea of the ham radio from 20th century Earth.   His focus on the technical aspects of the gear he collected and built also allowed him to interact with a wide array of spacefarers, exposing him to various alien cultures.  Along with his training, this has given him a good grasp of the linguistics aspect that would also typically accompany his role and be the focus on most other Starfleet vessels.

Revek’s demeanor is casual and easygoing.  He does well working with others, a product no doubt of the very large and varied family structure that Denobulans are known for.  His ease of conversation has been honed as he grew up playing with his ham subspace radios, and if one is not careful they could find themselves participants to unexpectedly lengthy chats lasting much longer than was desired. Revek’s openminded nature and willingness to embrace new experiences and approaches come from both his own culture’s open nature and his exposure to a wide variety of other cultures.
