Sonak

Lieutenant Commander Sonak is a Starfleet Engineering officer formerly assigned to the Advanced Starship Design Bureau (ASDB) and was instrumental as part of the development – team that developed the Block III evolution of the Inquiry – Class Cruiser.

Sonak opted to take the position of the Chief of Engineering aboard the USS Albion to perform a series of field – evaluations of the performance of the Block III design and gather pertinent data to contribute towards the eventual Block IV evolution.

As such, there is no – one aboard the USS Albion that understands her systems so well and it is often remarked by the crew that Sonak relates better to the technology, rather than the people that operate it.

Lt CDR Sonak also serves as the USS Albion’s Second – Officer.

Vulcans are not universally known for their sense of humor or grasp of irony, but even amongst Vulcans Sonak could be considered socially awkward.

Sonak has enough social skills to manage those under his charge and is not unpleasant – but is saddled with an almost absolute focus on matters technical to the detriment of nearly everything and everyone else. It is quite common for Sonak’s brilliant mind to wander from the mundanity of conversation when he is suddenly distracted with the fascinating technical implications of some new Engineering challenge or another.

No one is really sure what Sonak does in his spare time, mainly because he never really seems to be off duty.
