Jaxom Nadir

Jaxom , like most of the Starfleet hopefuls on Earth, spent his youth hearing tales of Starfleet. With the nerve centers of the Federation resting on the planetary surface, and the shipyards clearly visible in the night sky, it was impossible not to feel pride and aspirations. With his eyes set on the stars, Jaxom worked hard through the regular studies, applying for Starfleet Academy as soon as he could. His academy years were spent learning as much as he could about the varying demands an Operations officer could face.

Once graduated, to his surprise Jaxom was transferred to a Deep Space station, rather than a starship. With the support network needed for extended missions growing, there was a demand for young officers who could learn the ropes. He was keen to advance and continue his growth, specializing with Quartermastering.

Jaxom enjoyed the work aboard a station, finding it more varied than he had originally worried. The academy had given him a strong foundation, and more importantly, a hunger for knowledge and self improvement. While serving on the Station, there was no time to be lax or rest on your laurels, for demands of the station’s maintenance, as well as the ships that came in for resupplying and other repairs gave him a chance to speak with crews from all over the quadrant.

With little in the way of distractions aboard the station, Jaxom spent much of his free time learning about the large array of vessels the fleet boasted. It was impossible to be an expert on all of them, but there were quite a few hull types that caught his eye and imagination.

When he heard of an opportunity to serve aboard the Valkyrie, Jaxom placed his name for consideration immediately. He enjoyed the station, enjoyed the work and the camaraderie of the crew aboard, however there was no denying that he had always dreamed of the missions of discovery, of journeying through space. He knew there was always a chance of being sent elsewhere or denied completely, so when the transfer was finalized, and he saw he was being sent to the USS Valkyrie, he could hardly conceal his joy. It was freshly refitted, with some of the finest upgrades and systems that Starfleet had. Serving on something like that, could easily earn an officer early commissions, or the chance to remain onboard and serve a long career.
