Pre-Academy Life

Born in the coastal city of Victoria in what used to be the Canadian province of British Columbia, Taylor Kazansky was always obsessed with flight. While transporters had made living on an island separated from the mainland easier, it still felt confining to be living on an island when all the excitement and adventure was going on elsewhere.

As a teenager Taylor got into the hobby of competitive kite fighting, after an uncle gifted her a fighter kite. She trained with that and while some people get into sports, or ballet, it was kite fighting that helped her establish an identity. Becoming one of the best kite fighters first in Victoria, then in the region she began to travel to international tournaments for it, and then eventually was invited to tour off world within the niche kite fighting community.

Academy Years

Taylor Kazansky applied for Starfleet Academy right out of high school and then again just after enrolling in the University of Victoria. She was taken on her second application, kite flying being something she wrote a lot about on her application.

She remained in Victoria, able to commute to classes in San Francisco via transporter. She began to feel less isolated on the island now that her education was occurring on the mainland in another part of the world even if it was not that far away. She excelled at security roles and became involved in training in martial arts both human and non-human. Dabbling in various sports she excelled at boxing, karate, krav maga, and Andorian bavana (an Andorian Martial Art).

Starfleet

Assigned to Earth Space Dock as a security officer, she mostly acted as an escort of dignitaries. This was boring work,  Eventually her work was rewarded with a transfer to a Akira-class ship the USS Badger. Here too she began there she served many different security roles such as running the ship’s brig, before finally being promoted to bridge duty and taking Gamma Shift on the bridge as a tactical officer.

Flying larger starships was more exciting and she advanced up the ranks as crew were either transferred or in one case turned into a mannequin by a god-like being on an uncharted planet. Eventually while server on the USS Badger she was assigned to Beta Shift and became the Assistant SecurityOfficer. She has since put in for a transfer to the USS Valkyrie, as Chief Security / Tactical Officer.
