Conspicuous Gallantry Medal Merit

The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal is an award that bridges the gap between the recognition awards and the higher level merit awards. It is received by those who have demonstrated extraordinary amounts of activity during a short period of time, such as during a Fleet Action, or who have shown a consistent level of activity over a longer period of time. This award is nominated by a Task Force Commanding Officer or higher.
