After the Bakersfield left the system, the distress signal was in. Simon keyed his communication device to inform the Klingons that they are on the way to Framheim Station now. As the ship warped to Framheim, the commander and captain wanted a status report on all systems. They first delved into Sam’s core by going down to the main computer core, which, for some reason, neither the captain nor the commander could open. “Sam, please let us in your core so we can check on your operationality status of all systems.” Sam did that, and they opened and started scanning the core. The core gave normal readings, and still, the mystery of the door to the core only operating on Sam’s command seemed strange.
“Simon to Naz, did you put your command code to lock us out of Sam’s core?”
Naz replied, “No, I thought only you and the commander had the codes. So don’t know what is up with that.” Naz got the reply,” Don’t worry about it, just keep an eye on the Klingons until we reach the station.” Naz keyed his security checklist and went back to work.
At the computer core, where it was 5 decks long and covered most of the center of the upper hull below the bridge and battle bridge, stood the commander and captain. The lights were multifaceted with colors ranging from green to blue. “Sam, run a level 4 diagnostic on the warp core and engines to see if anything is wrong after the minor damage we took.” As soon as Simon mentioned damage, Bakersfield dropped out of warp.
“Sam, there is nothing wrong with the nacelle or warp core. What is going on? ” said Simon to Sam as he felt the ship drop out of warp. Sam felt uneasy telling Simon about a mistake she made in calculating the direction of the station and sent the ship ten light-years off course, and the stop was a course correction. Bakersfield dropped out of warp, in a tangle of Sam’s course correction, the Klingons were getting restless as the captain promised a week of travel, and it was turning into another day near the end of the week.
Aurora keyed in a code on the main core to do an intimate look at Sam’s inner workings, and her code only allowed her to diagnose Sam, which confused Aurora. The diagnosis was that her programming was in perfect condition and her networks were all connected properly. Aurora showed Simon, and he just shrugged about it. Simon then said,” Haven’t seen that before. Maybe someone at the outpost can help us with Sam.” Aurora didn’t like the no answer, answer. Then both headed to the bridge, and Sam locked up her core since she knew she was operating at peak efficiency. “Simon to Ten, how is everything down there?” Said Simon.
“This is Ten, everything is operating at peak efficiency, and damage to the nacelle was repaired before we warped. We are replacing the lost crew member with the android maker, which should take till space dock to replace it,” said Ten to Simon through the Borg implant communication device.
“This is Simon. Keep up the good work and keep our Android maker online too, since you and I only know about it.” Said Simon to Ten through the Borg implant one-way communication device.
Captain’s Log
Stardate 79953.12
Simon started his captain’s log.
Simon voiced in his logs that the outpost is still a priority and had it as his next agenda item. The new crew member seemed to be fitting in well, as the Klingons were a little restless, so we kept our speed constant due to Sam’s advice. Sam is a bigger mystery to me since I saw Sam’s 10th iteration, and it acted differently than this one. Is she the one to change ships in general, or is Sam hiding something? This is our lives on the line now.
End log
As the Bakersfield approached the station, it was cleared to dock and unload the Klingons. The Bakersfield docked, and Simon reminded Aurora of her mandatory shore leave after she talked to command. She went and talked to the command about the success of the mission and started shore leave. Where does the Bakersfield go from here?
