First Officer’s Log, Stardate 09.15.2402.

First Officer Sophia Rodriguez recording…

While the USS Carlsbad was under impulse power mapping this sector, a plasma relay just exploded on Deck 13. Engineering is currently rerouting power and conducting a full assessment on damage and Chief Catersha will deliver a full damage report. Sickbay reported one causality, a junior officer. The Captain has ordered the ship at full stop until repairs can be made.

Chief Medical Officer’s Log, Stardate 09 15.2402

Doctor Zorvath T’Koren recording…

I just finished doing emergency surgery on the Engineering junior officer who was seriously injured. The surgery took several hours and the junior officer is expected to make a full recovery. I am preparing a full medical report to give to the Captain and to Security Chief Bradley. I am officially declaring this incident as suspicious.

Security Officers Log, Stardate 09.16.2402

Security Chief Tom Bradley recording…

I have started an official investigation into what had happened in the Engineering Department. The accident was on Deck 13 where a secondary plasma relay exploded, injuring one junior engineering officer, who was simply conducting routine maintenance. Both Chief Engineer Catersha and Doctor T’Koren believe it was sabotage, which has prompted me to start an official investigation. I am preparing my first report for the Captain this evening.

Chief Engineer’s Personal Log, Stardate 10.02.2402

Chief Engineer Catersha recording…

I’m very proud of the job Assistant Chief Engineer Flummox Vael has done while Aramis and I were missing after Shore Leave. He has managed to increase efficiency in my engineering department to ninety seven percent. I’m currently going over ship systems to make sure we are fully operational now that we are currently on our mission. There has been some minor energy fluctuations in the EPS power system after the plasma relay exploded a couple of weeks ago.

Security Officer’s Log, Stardate 10.25.2402.

Security Chief Tom Bradley recording…

It has been a few weeks now since the incident regarding the young engineer that was seriously injured by a plasma relay explosion. Unfortunately, I am not closer to finding out who was responsible for sabotaging the plasma relay. The Captain has decided to continue the mission and ordered the investigation to continue.

Meanwhile, I have conducted several security drills with my staff, with the Captain’s permission. I must say that I am impressed with their performance. I have managed to get efficiency up to ninety three percent. Both the Captain and First Officer are very impressed with the department.

Science Officer’s Log, Stardate 11.12.2402.

Lieutenant Commander Soraya Amara recording…

This mapping expedition in this new region has been fascinating as the first Vulcan/Human science officer in Starfleet would say. We have witnessed the birth of a new star in a stellar nursery. My staff has been working overtime conducting scans and fully mapping the sectors we were assigned.

Also, we just started detecting a strange sensor anomaly at the maximum range of our sensors. We can only watch it from this range for now as we continue forward.

Captain’s Log, Stardate 12.02.2402

Captain Kirok Skyrunner recording…

It has been just over three months now since we arrived into the Shackleton Expanse. Upon arriving at Framheim Station, we were assigned to map out several sectors in succession. The USS Carlsbad has been moving deeper into the expanse, using the Framheim Station as the starting point.

Over the last three months, we have explored and mapped out two full sectors. In the time we have been in the expanse, we have found three star systems with multiple gas giants, one Class M planet in each system. Upon finding the Class M planets, we did surveys of the planets, took biological and ecological samples of the soil and grass in random areas on each planet. We also encountered and did a detailed scan of a Class 3 comet. On one of the Class M planets, there was archaeological evidence that the planet’s civilization had to deal with some kind of pandemic, where all grain types of plant life had been completely eaten to the point of not being able to regrow.

Also, our long range sensors have been picking up sporadic energy readings at the edge of our sensor range as we’ve been moving on. My science officer has been keeping an eye on it. We are currently on route to a pulsar star system inside a Mutara Nebula.
