The bridge was giving off that familiar humming, everyone that was present was focus on their own assignments. Some departments were working together to verify what they had found, needed an answer to or a little social interaction during their duties at the bridge. A calm Romulan stood at her station, tapping slightly at the side of the console, looking at the information in front of her. Hevoma had been with the Saturn crew for a while, in service as their Chief Science Officer, she came from the Romulan Republic and took the opportunity to work with the Federation.
She looked up from her console in the direction of Stefania, “The subspace bursts coming from the Klingons are not quite formal hails, but rather something ritualistic in nature. It’s rather strange that we’re getting these burst” Hevoma concluded.
“It might be remnants of coded battle poems often used to mask threats or potential challenges” T’hu spoke as she didn’t break her concentration from her hourly security check-up.
Taking a deep breath as she sat in the chair, Stefania looked at the screen, seeing the other ships in front of theirs slowly moving in the Pilgrim route. She heard the light debate and looked over her shoulder to Hevoma “Lieutenant T’hu might have logic in what she’s saying, but I think we need to consider more possibilities. A warning? Perhaps a ceremony to the death or disapproval of those that died in a wasteful manner”.
“Might?” T’hu raises her Vulcan eyebrow as she looked at her boss.
Only to receive a soft smile from Stefania, as Kayrun spoke up, “I am noting various irregularities in the Grim Wall, the convoy telemetry echo in these readings. With your permission, I keep a passive observation going in synchronization with the Wakefield”.
Standing up, Stefania nods in the direction of Kayrun “Give me those readings to my PADD, also this Klingon burst. I will discuss it with the Captain” She grabs her PADD, already grabbing the latest data that was sent. She walks to the ready room, knowing that Kam was there. “Lieutenant Kayrun, you got the bridge”
Kayrun nodded walking to the front “I have the bridge, aye” Sitting down in the chair, as she resumes the data observation.
Ready Room
Walking into the room, Stefania looks at the front seeing Kam sitting there locked on the work in front of her “Well, got an update Captain” She walks to her side and places the PADD at her side “We got some battle cries from beyond the Grim Wall, or perhaps ghost calls”
Kam places her PADD down and looked at the PADD that her First Officer provided, “Well, I can’t say it’s unusual. They have tasted blood with the Vaadwaur, some houses might be in for more” She looked at the transcript that was so far provided “Thought what Fleet Captain Kobahl told me is not even sugarcoated. This is a massive minefield we are entering” She places the PADD down and shrugs “Passive-aggressive symbolism at its best. I am getting mixed signals from Boreth.”
Leaning against the wall as she crosses her arms, “Sounds like trouble is waiting for us, is it truly worth it?” Stefania was not really a strong believer when it came to the nature of this mission. These supplies could be used for their own worlds.
“You would think so, but it is worth on the long-term if we play our cards correctly” Kam pointed out “The clergy there are split on our arrival. One side sees our reach out as an act of heretics that would affect their Klingon culture, others sees it as pilgrims to lend out help to those that need it”.
“Affect their culture? Well some houses deem their culture be build on blood of their warriors” Stefania pointed out pretty much the obvious struggle that the Empire is dealing with right now.
A beep comes in as Kam taps her combadge “Talk”
“We got filtered audio log, you better hear this”
Kam shrugs “Alright, get in here, Min-Yung out” Only to see her Romulan Science Officer walking into the room “What did you find, Lieutenant?”
She walks to both of them and stops in front of them “Sent to the Commander’s PADD” Hevoma stood at attention.
An audio file was sent to the PADD as Kam taps on it, speaker mode. “Let them come, we shall see if they bleed the same as these Vaadwaur.” Taking a deep breath as her eyes meet that of Stefania who shrugged at the message “Lovely” She looked back at Hevoma as she puts the PADD down “Let’s play this safe, relay to the convoy that we will not respond to these provocations, unless we are hailed formally. All formality will be pushed through to Saturn. Lieutenant, do increase long-range passive scans, dismissed”
They both nodded, as Stefania grabs the PADD as they both leaving the Ready Room, with Kam staying behind. She grabs her PADD and starts writing a formal request to enter Boreth orbit.
